We had a trip to Portugal to explore retirement options in early 2020. Covid ended that dream.
I wouldn't recommend Ireland, though. The Atlantic conveyor is in great peril, and will severely affect the entire UK.

That’s a good thought about the oceans. Another thing to check if hoping for a big move like that.
