R.I.P.

Bob Moore, the founder of Bob’s Red Mill, passed away at home on Saturday, February 10

In 2010, Moore celebrated his 81st birthday by transferring the company to his employees through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan, or ESOP. The list of employee-owned companies remains small in the United States, which Moore attributed to corporate greed.

@corlin That’s too bad. His products were a game changer for me after my celiac diagnosis.

@corlin oh no! Even I knew how much his employees loved him. I hope his legacy lives on.

@corlin Sorry to hear this but he lived a good long life. I use his products from time to time.

@corlin
Best oats I've ever had...
The extra thick rolled oats are my current favorite...
Such a good person...

@corlin Damn. o7. Have a 50lb* bag of their steel cut oats in the pantry.
Their gluten free baking stuff is great. I use it even though I don't need it; makes the best crunchewy waffles.

*~5lbs left

@corlin This is my area of the world. I saw him once while I was bicycling around here better than a decade ago. Dressed just like this and driving to the Red Mill property. There's actual two locations near each other. In the photo is the customer facing part of the business with restaurant, store, classes, and some offices. Then the business property with production, warehousing, etc. The latter is where I saw him headed.

The restaurant is very good! Gluten free options and all!
