One of the lasting benefits of the COVID pandemic has been discovering unexpected aspects of self reliance. I haven’t been to a hair salon since February 28th 2020. I let my hair go fully gray and Mr. Carolina and I have been cutting each other’s hair ever since. The money that I’ve saved for monthly color and cut appointments now goes to charity. I’d consider that a win-win. Even my stylist who owned her salon was happy, as she had a long waiting list of new clients ready to take my place.

Good morning CoSo 💛
Happy Birthday to this amazing place and wonderful community!
So grateful to be here with you ☕️🌻🫖
Congratulations to @th3j35t3r on bringing a beautiful vision to life and opening #CounterSocial up to us for seven years!
Over the years, in my “welcome new folks” posts, I have often referred to CoSo as an oasis in the soc med desert.
It’s not hyperbole or an exaggeration—the beauty, importance and value grows as the malignant shadows of politics creep wider.
Even if you’re not into the “woo-woo” of community and #CoSoLove this platform exceeds all others when it comes to overall integrity, features, & user safety.
I’m so grateful for J’s hard work and all the people who show up to make this home.

@amandapalmer
Hello and welcome. You will find this place very different from other social media sites. Here, you curate your own content feed. There is no algorithm, just what people do.
We recommend you take the time to look at the New User's Guide to familiarize yourself with this place.
If you’re searching for a wonderful pecan pie - or anything with pecans - head over to Potter’s Country Store in Store in Schulenburg Texas. It’s the perfect hostess gift (we’ll, assuming that you’re not bringing it into a household of folks allergic to nuts) and they ship right to your door.
@cassandra17lina When the safety professionals start bailing out, things will be fine, for a while, but after some time without anyone watching, things will start to go wrong. People will die, and it will take a long, long time to get things under control again, if we can.
This artwork is called “Stepping On Fresh Snow”. It was created 2021 by Japanese embroidery artist Narumi Takada
The snow is rendered so well you can practically feel its texture. It was created using a punch needle and cut loops. The footprints have been precisely rendered in straight stitch and satin stitch.
For me it is very personal:
The Other Time a Vaccine Saved America.
I was five. When my mom heard the news of a polio vaccine. She was crying, tears of joy and relief. People literally danced in the streets. For 6 years she had cared for my older sister who came down with polio the year before I was born. My sister was very sick, for a very long time, in and out of public health hospitals. She required a huge amount of physical therapy, and that burden fell hard on mom.
My heart goes out to all the folks in government who really did their jobs with honor and integrity. Having to hand their position over to incompetent sycophants dedicated to wrecking everything must be unbearable. #Politics
