Little Miss Attitude is the most fearless dog I know, but like many dogs, is freaked out by thunder and, to a lesser extent, fireworks. She’s here to remind you that Thundershirts DO work, and that the time to buy one is now, before the 4th of July and summer storm season.

We missed because our pack hadn’t yet been reunited after our travels, so please accept this belated entry from Little Miss Attitude.

Yes, the treat jar is on that counter and yes, I brought a bag of treats for my pawsome grand-dog when I can traveled here to New Hampshire from North Carolina.

This moment of zen was brought to you by Trazodone as Mr. Tan Man and Little Miss Attitude head off to “camp” for boarding for the week as we head to New England.

Little Miss Attitude wants to go for a leash walk. Yes, sweetie. You got it.

Good morning and safe caffeinating to the hardworking humans making the the center of their world.

While I refer to Mr. Tan Man’s morning walk as a in reality it’s a full sensory experience. Here he is reveling in his beloved “tickle grass” which has grown back (as always) after being cut back in the winter.

This is Shadow, my first shelter dog, adopted in August 1987. He was held for 3 weeks at the “pound” unclaimed before going to a no-kill shelter. Evidently he bolted on July 4th, probably due to fireworks. July 5th is always the busiest day at shelters as escaped dogs are brought in. With Memorial Day weekend at hand, please keep your dog safe. If they’re microchipped, make sure the database info is current. Even a rabies tag can help reunite them if they’re wearing a collar.

Mr. Tan Man’s morning featured the intoxicating aroma of jasmine, combined with honeysuckle and magnolia blossoms, three sure indicators that summer is just around the corner here in North Carolina.

Little Miss Attitude, like the rest of our pack, is staying active and engaged despite getting more grizzled by the day.

to the day that I met and adopted Little Miss Attitude in March 2014. I was her “handler” at an adoption fair for the shelter where I volunteered.

I’ve found it very liberating to skip doing a March Madness bracket this year for myself and for each of my dogs. Little Miss Attitude was the winner of our most recent pack pool but even she is relieved to be rid of the drama and profanity.

It’s National Puppy Day but I’m here to tell you folks: adopting an adult dog from a shelter is a great alternative to getting a puppy (even a shelter puppy.) Mr. Tan Man and Little Miss Attitude came from separate shelters, each 1-2 years old, housebroken (yay) and ready to take their place as responsible members of our pack.

Time for Little Miss Attitude to head to the veterinarian’s office for her senior exam. She’s a favorite over there, and for good reason.
