Did some quick back of the napkin numbers.
Harris had 18 million votes fewer votes than Biden in 2020.
Trump received about 6 million fewer votes than he did in 2020.
Where did those 24 million voters go? Are we here today because 24 million voters stayed home?

As the numbers have continued to come in it does look like the 24 million was just slow vote counting. 177 million total votes cast is in line with the 2020 volume.

@butch I think third, fourth, and fifth party candidates did better than we expected they would

@butch

How would knowing the answers to these unanswerable questions improve your life or anyone else's?

@mcfate
For me it's more about planning next steps. Cause in 2 years and 4 years, I can't see how it's not going to be that much harder.
Is this how we finally get the message to people that sitting out the vote _is_ a vote for the worst possible outcome?
The takeaway here, the thing people need to hear, is the US system doesn't support protest votes or protest by not voting. That's the takeaway for me.

@butch

My takeaway is that I'm done wasting time, thought, and energy on politics.

@mcfate For the time being, that does seem to be the sane way forward.

@butch Did the Joe-is-too-old we-are-the-future people show up to vote?

@butch I'm shaking my damn head asking myself the same thing.

Why did 1 in 7 Biden voters switch votes or stay home?

@butch yes and ballot box burning, voter purging, now voting machines not recognizing ballots.
Trump said in September that he fixed and there will be no more voting after this.

The checks balances failed in 2015 when they let him on the ballot.

@VelvetDuchess @butch

Also people not getting their mail in ballots. I know several in Texas did not, and while some were still able to vote in person most weren't.

@butch
I did my part, voted for Harris by mail, early, last month, it was received & counted. And if that wasn't enough to elect her, giving her what's left of my money wouldn't have helped.
How the hell was the USA stupid enough to vote for :Asshat:? Again? I don't get it.
