Did pretty well at Pick-N-Pull today. Got a seat belt buckle, center dash panel cover, glove box door, and a bolt for the spare tire carrier. Every damn connector I could find to try to replace the one causing the ABS light was fucking broken the same way. Went to a truck parts place down the street and scored a rim to match the 3 already on the truck. All told we spent nearly $100. Stopped at O'Reilly Auto Parts on the way home, they'll have a new connector waiting tomorrow afternoon. #DIY
I know why the ABS light is on.
So I was trying to find out why the scanner I just bought wouldn't pull ABS codes. Online I came across a video of a guy diagnosing ABS issues on a truck like ours. Turns out no scanners can pull ABS off these vehicles. But then he showed the most common reason the ABS lights up: a sensor connection on the master cylinder. Checked ours, pulled the plug out and one of the pins is obviously broken. "Well there's your problem!" So I need to replace that connection.
Ok well, tested the scanner. Pulled the same code for the fuel system the neighbor's did so I know that works. Couldn't test the ABS because the light wasn't on this morning. Partner about to go to work so we'll see if it comes on while she's driving it today. Test it again this evening if it does.
Took a while to pair the scanner to its app. Eventually had to reinstall the damn app lol. Isn't necessary to use the app but it is a nice backup/parts finder so why not have it, I guess.

Lost At Sea (Multi, #PS5 for me)
First person puzzle game, you play as Anna, a widow searching for life's meaning reconstructing her memories on a deserted island. 75% off sale RN!
This was an interesting experience. Wandering a pretty island while drowning in Anna's feels as she looks back on a series of traumas. So big trigger warning on this one, deaths, mental illness esp. It's short, under 5 hours. 100% trophy if you finish it. #CoSoGaming #Gaming #VideoGames
I'm not ready to admit we got totally suckered buying this 97 Ranger, yet.. but, now the ABS light has come on, lol. I decided that investing in a OBD2 scanner capable of reading ABS codes was smart. Got an Innova 6030P off Amazon, overnight was available so it was on my porch before I woke up. Hope it can tell me wtf is wrong. Already checked the obvs: fuse is fine, fluid is fine. Need to check the tires PSI. If that's fine then it's either the pump/module or a wheel speed sensor. #DIY
Also ordered a complete fuel filler line assembly, a Torx socket set with the Torx 55 I'll need to break the bed bolts loose, and some PB Blaster in case the bolts don't wanna break loose. Figure it won't take me but a couple hours to pop the 4 front bolts off, loosen the back 2, unscrew the filler cap from the bed, tilt/prop it up so I can access the filler line, yank the old one and clamp on the new one. Drop the bed back in place and screw everything back down. No problem (I hope).
Majority of the time tho I was working on the front bumper. Something had happened that tilted the bottom of it forward, so looking at the ends on the sides, they pointed downward, not straight back.
Pulled off the plastic skirt and then got my 10 ton hydraulic jack and lifted the front of the truck under each end of the bumper, basically bending the mounts backwards. Took about 3 hours but now when you look at the bumper you have to look close to notice it's not perfectly straight.
Noon yesterday I had to meet with a disability analyst. Now I get to wait and see if I stay on or have to fight for it. Oh boy.
Rest of the day spent working on the "new" truck. Replaced a door handle. Fixed the hood latch (OMG WE WERE ON THE FREEWAY WITH IT LIKE THAT?!?) Pulled a tail light and hammered on it's housing area so it fit flush again. Did a bunch of cleaning inside. Had a moment of "oh SHIT" when we noticed we couldn't see the VIN in the dash. It was just covered in filth. #DIY
Well, yesterday was a roller coaster. Bought a '97 Ford Ranger XLT. 205k miles, 5sp. Runs great, rolls great, no obvious mechanical issues. Ride home was good, no problems.
Partner went to work. Called after work "hey the check engine light went on, and when I put gas in it, it spilled from under the bed".
Went online, turns out the fuel filler tube is a clamped rubber hose deal. Good idea, Ford. Neighbor has a diagnostic, check engine code was EVAP, guess I'm replacing the fuel tank neck.

Golf Club Wasteland (Multi, #PS5 for me)
As a pilot, you flew the ultra rich to Mars in order to escape a human created calamity on Earth. Now you've returned to play one last round on their golf course.
Short (4 hrs) and "simple" golf puzzle game with a cool soundtrack and a story!? with some feels. I say "simple", there's def some challenge to be had if you want it, including a hard mode which will double the play time.

Trying something new.
Tinykin (#Xbone #GamePass) Play as Milo, scientist who discovers his world is not the origin of humanity and sets off on an adventure to find his "home".
TL;DR- This is a shortish cozyish indie game that's so influenced by Pikmin I expected to see a Nintendo Seal of Quality on it. It's a cute 3d platformer with cool hand drawn characters interacting with a 3d world. Check my Tumblr link for a long form review.

Started Tinykin last night, mainly because I heard it mentioned on a podcast and it's in Game Pass. It's freakin' adorable. It's *heavily* influenced by Pikmin. I'm quite enjoying it. More thoughts when I've finished it. #CoSoGaming #Gaming #GamePass #VideoGames
That was quick. Listed the car on NextDoor and FB Marketplace (Partner still has an acct, for now) and got some bites, first guy to show up tried to talk me down from $800 by half, held fast and talked him up to $600. Not bad for a non running car, heh. So I got a little head start on getting another car. Gonna have to figure out how we wanna go about it/what we're looking for.
Gave a gallant effort to try and push engage the engine in the car today, because the flywheel is too close to the engine bay sidewall to get a wrench on it and test it that way. Sure seems like the engine is at least partly seized. Dropping it into gear was like hitting the brakes lol. So, I guess I have to call a time of death on this car, heh. It was a good 5+ years, but turn out the lights, the party's over. Gotta start looking for a replacement, hopefully not another sub-compact. #DIYLife
I am now bummed. It wasn't the starter. Car goes to turn over once, then stops dead and won't turn over after that. It isn't seized, it ran just fine 2 days ago, no signs of any mechanical issues. Just the same electrical ones that it's had since we got it. Just got the notification that the ECU I bought showed up in the mail. I guess I should try hooking that up and see if it makes any difference? But I'm starting to think the car is finally toast. #DIYLife
Got up this morning and checked the forecast and the worst of the rain is scheduled for this afternoon/evening. So I went out and pulled the starter off the car. Walked it to AutoZone and checked in with the warranty receipt. Said they'd have a new one brought over by 230 this afternoon. So I'll bring it back and swap it then and hurry to drop it in the car and hope that the starter really was the issue, heh. Kinda need the car to be starting again by tomorrow. #DIYLife
@CJLavoie Heh. I wish I had the space to whack it. It's buried under the intake/MAF.
Well, that's annoying. Went to start the car today and kuh-kuh-kuh-clunk. Clunk. Clunk. Thought maybe battery, but have hooked a shop charger to it and it seems fully charged. Starter? Would be odd cause I replaced it only 3 years ago, max. AutoZone, so I guess I have the lifetime on that shit, but we're about to get steamrolled by storms for at least a week and I don't have any cover to work on a car in that kinda weather. So even getting it off to get tested gonna have to wait. #DIYLife
