Hello, fellow CoSonauts. Disabled, mostly Neuro/antisocial, but 47 soon so body is degrading. West Coast US born/raised. Progressive, LGBTQ+ ally, antifascist. Swears a lot. Vapes. Huge , retro/current, live to grind levels. LinuxOS only since 2011, currently Mint. News junkie. Loves podcasts. Interests include all sciences, history, tech, DIY. Twitch are updating their rules & decided that LGBTQ+ is a "Sensitive social issue" & needs to be hidden behind a content warning.

Obviously this is bad for LGBTQ+ streamers & a slippery slope. Here's a petition to remove that bullet point you can vote on as a Twitch user.

Thank Goodness You're Here (Multi, XPd on PS5) As a nameless salesman, slap your way through the fictional English town of Barnsworth and engage in many shenanigans with the inhabitants.
This game is so good. If you like Monty Python etc you owe it to yourself to pick this game up on whatever platform you have that it's available on. I can't recall the last time I laughed so much while playing a game. I even played through it twice, and might a 3rd time πŸ‘ πŸ‘

G4TV - Cinematech

The first ever episode of Cinematech. How many of y'all remember watching this back in 2002(April, to be exact)?

Gorillaz - Tomorrow Comes Today
This vid fairly perfectly captures the essence of the early 2000s. Also "Don't think I'll be here too long" sure did sit right with me at the time. Never figured I'd still be around 2 decades later.

David Bowie - I'm Afraid of Americans

Pretty telling that this nearly 30 yr old song (side note, it's weird being the same age as "old" people) not only holds up, but is more and more on point every damn day.

youtube.com/watch?v=LT3cERVRoQ

It's late for me these days (aka damn, I'm getting old) but I'm not so old I don't stay up "late" some nights and listen to some shit from back in the day.

Industria (Multi, XPd on PS5) Short, surreal FPS that sends you (as Nora) chasing after your partner Walter inside an AI's world.
This was an impulse buy last year(on sale now too!) and I'm kinda glad I got it. It's not super hard (except hard mode) and the story is interesting, if obtuse. Half Life inspired, this prequel (sequel is TBA) does a decent job hitting its target, tho you do have to be a bit forgiving. A good 1st effort for this team.πŸ‘

You know, when I was growing up and reading SciFi books, I never imagined we'd end up here with machines being used for "human connections".

The Plucky Squire (Multi, XPd on ) As Jot, rescue your book from Humgrump's bad intentions.
This is a pretty cute platformer with a cool concept: as a char in a book, you are 2D, but 3D when you leave the book's pages. They stuck quite a few minigames in here too. And the ability to change the book scenes by moving words around is fun. Overall just a nice 10 or so hour experience. Do recommend, and it's in PSN Extra's catalog atm.πŸ‘ πŸ‘

On the hardware repair side, I recently acquired a Switch OLED (just the tablet) for $100. No power, no charge. Checked the C port and yep, bent up pins. Got replacements and swapped in a new port. Plugged it in.. battery icon on the screen. It was flat dead lol. Took 20 mins before it would boot up, but it did and charged to 100. I got some Joycons and a Dock on the way to test it with. Guess I need an acct, heh. Hope it's all working, be worth more to resell.

Played through Little Nightmares 1/2 the last few days, and hoowee, do they make Limbo/Inside seem tame lol. Whoever did the designs/SFX for the various things you encounter sure knows how to make your skin crawl. A bit finicky with the platforming, as most "2.5D platformers" are (really these have a lot more 3D depth than most) so some "cheap" deaths. Still enjoyable, do recommend. πŸ‘ πŸ‘

Apparently 4th time's the charm, lol. The last PS4 I gave the neighbor must have had a faulty PSU. It would lose power after 12-24 hours, forcing him to unplug and replug it. So I bought another broken one off eBay. Deep cleaned, swapped the HDMI port. Then I spent 3 days playing through No Man's Sky's Aquarius expedition on it, had no issuesπŸ˜€ So today, finally, my brain can be content in the knowledge I have given him a good working console that should last a couple years at least.

^^^^ Still a couple days left to get this Godot 4 course bundle from Humble. I just finished Course 3 which was "Create a 2d Platformer" and I'm actually having fun? Course.. I did take over a WoW addon back in '08 and learned some Lua for fun, so maybe I'm just weird that way. Anyway yeah, what I learned today I could drop a Mario Clone on Steam in like a week 😜

So I bought the Humble Godot Game Engine 4.0 Course Bundle the other day for $30. Zenva Academy charges $1500. Just finished the Intro course (61 lessons) and got my Certificate for it. Only 29 to go πŸ˜† $1 a course is feeling like a pretty good deal. Link below for anyone interested. Now I just need to figure out how to make the next Vampire Survivors 🀣

Took a rare trip away from the homestead and got the latest COVID vax/Flu vax combo yesterday, because I am not a complete dumbass. Plus my parents are both 70+ and I do tend to drop in on them during the holidays as they are not stupid and have resisted the brain smoothing. Also trying to keep my streak of not catching COVID going. Dude jabbing me was impressed, lol. Arm sore this morn, not the best night's sleep but eh, worth it.

Hauntii (Multi, XPd on via )
A pretty twin stick shoot/puzz/platformer. Play as a ghost in the afterlife, searching for your past and trying to ascend.

This is a cool take on a twin stick. You can possess things and solve environmental puzzles, or possess demons and use their abilities to battle/explore. Neat "hand drawn" art style. Great music. I hadn't heard of it before it hit GP, very glad I played it. Do recommend. πŸ‘ πŸ‘ hauntii.com/

Figment (XPd on via ) Dusty, embodiment of Courage in the mind of a man in a coma, must vanquish fears and wake up the mind.

Short (6 hours) puzzle platformer with surprising wit and humor as it deals with mental trauma. Nothing special in the gameplay dept, but it stands out in the atmosphere. Lots of bright colors. Bosses that taunt you with musical numbers. Bad puns. Fart clouds. It was a nice bit of silly that helped my own mental state a little πŸ‘
