@etakeh A '76 Toyota Corolla station wagon, bought when I was a few months old and became my car once I got my license. Learned to drive it on back roads in the foothills.

@etakeh at this point having a stick shift is an anti-theft feature.

Ok, major hurdle out of the way. Partner searched around and found a small biz towing company willing to come move us to another spot for $75. Other quote she got was $450, FFS. And they knew the deets, 300 feet max, no public roads. So now the prep needs to get done. Most will happen tomorrow cause 75% of what needs to be taken down so it won't fall down is in the bedroom. Feels good, man. Rather move and look stupid that it didn't flood than stay and be fucked if it does.

Next big storm rolls in late Tues/early Weds, so we have today and tomorrow to figure out if 1) anything will be done about the cracked wall on the creek 2) the "several additional inches" will be spread out over enough time to NOT threaten us with a catastrophic flood in here. Cause if the answers are "nope" and "nope" we need to hire a tow to get the RV to a spot at the top of the hill. Much cheaper than replacing almost everything we own.

Spent today cleaning up the mess around here. Tore down the shredded tarp. Put up shade cloth stuff I got spring 2021 when I took down the failing vinyl awning. Partner went and bought an 8x11ft tarp to go over the shade cloth at our front door area so it'll be mostly dry right there the next maybe 10 days of rain. Rearranged storage shelves, potted plants. My hands hurt. Tomorrow we'll do some "in case it floods" prep, pack up things we want to save so we can get em out fast.

We survived the storm, but the tarp I used to replace the vinyl awning a year ago didn't. Split down the middle seam and shredded in the wind. 14mils heavy duty my ass. Sigh. Already ordered a canvas one that costs twice as much so maybe it'll last 2 years.

Forecast says this the only dry day for a week, so I guess I have to hope the shitlord owner has a plan to shore up the wall in the other corner/it doesn't rain like it did yesterday. I'm not really optimistic about either.

I am now currently maniacally refreshing the area radar forecast because I have been informed that a tree fell in the other corner of the park, hitting the wall and damaging it. I went and looked, didn't see what I've been told but I didn't get a close look. So yeah, if that's true, too much rain = too much runoff = creek rising onto the wall = ... 🌊 🌊?? There'd be no time to tow out esp since NYE, so we'd be stuffing the car with clothes/electronics AFAP and kissing home goodbye.😬

@Embers oof, yeah that looks similar to what we were dealing with a couple hours ago. Stay dry, yo.

Well that was "fun". Rain eased enough the pumps caught up with the flooding in here and now there's just some puddles. The runoff creek behind the wall is now back down to the dirt bank so it's not pushing water under the wall into the spot next door. Looking like the weather patterns aren't exactly following forecast, the storms are stalling on the way here so somebody else is getting more water than they expected, heh. This pattern holds we should be ok, but we'll see.

@BB160_ It's gotten a little bit better since, the flooding has receded to where there's just some puddles. The runoff creek has gone down enough it''s not currently forcing water through under the wall now. City has pumps on the end somewhere, obvs they are running them, heh. The rain hasn't been hard or steady enough for us to *really* worry, yet. So, hopefully, that was the worst we'll deal with today, but we'll see.

So here's a couple pics from about an hour ago. Rain has eased a bit since and will be intermittent today so I think the pumps here should keep up with the flooding enough we won't be in real trouble. Happy fucking New Year!

@KarenSohne "equipment". I have a weight bench and a resistance frame I lock my mountain bike into so it becomes a stationary bike. Use em 6 days a week, but not today lol.

So far the flooding is "minor". Just about ankle deep. The rain is intermittent so the pumps have time to catch up before it rains harder. So I don't think we're in real trouble this time, but it is a nuisance.

Well today is def the heaviest rain this week. There's flood warnings for the area, but mostly applies to the rivers/streams.

So far locally, there's some puddling around our end of the RV park. Haven't checked the "creek" out back yet...but I'm about to go out and assess some things, looks like the drain needs clearing at least. So I'll have a look over the wall while I'm out there. Gonna have to count as my exercise today since I won't be able to use my EQ in this rain.

Managed to sneak in an hour on the stationary bike in between storm cells today. Rest of the day was spent messing with the failing storage HDD some more, followed by some on the , then some to finish the evening. .. I'll prob play something on the Deck before bed, lol.

So far the rain hasn't been strong enough for us to really worry about flooding in the trailer park.. yet. It also seems that all the repairs I've done on this RV/home are holding.. 🤞

@Skyye lol. Maybe. Lot to catch up to these days tho. .. I prob have the time. .. crap, why'd I think that, now I'm gonna want to.

@etakeh Not everyone can be. And we all get older and slower eventually lol. Why I tend away from Souls games, tho Elden Ring is tempting me since I can just level till I'm overpowered. I like platformers but I've stopped playing the Meat Boy clones. My reaction times aren't quite up to those anymore. I only get by in Destiny thanks to the aim assist hehe. I can still play most games on whatever passes for "normal" difficulty but who knows how long that lasts. I'll keep going till I can't tho 🤣

Spent most of the last couple days dealing with a mildly failing HDD (storage, thankfully). Been copying off what it will let me to my 8tb ext and deleting stuff. I'm getting close to having just the stuff that fails to move but still works (mostly music at this point). Prob try a clone, run disk checks to see if I can get the rest off before I pull it for a replacement. Least I've had the to entertain me while I waited out long copy times lol. Now to play a couple hours of

@etakeh Nice. Yeah I'll use a walkthrough for hints if I really get stuck, tho I try to finish the game and then go look up what I might have missed and if it's worth putting more time in, depending on the game.

I play so much varied stuff I tend to pick a path and stick with it to the end and that's good enough. If the game has a radically different path/endings then sometimes I'll go back and do it again, if I have the time.
