I'm grateful the neighbor's "tree service" survived their shenanigans -- it wasn't pretty -- but since they didn't know what the heck they were doing I've got trees to fix up, stumps and debris to remove (trees _on_ the property line).
The moral is hire ISA-certified arborists if you can.

@nursefrombirth
Read that and I want a word with that boy's parents. I hope the state of Massachusetts does too.

Hey authors and readers:

Embroidered Worlds presents a living snapshot of imaginative fiction in Ukrainian culture today, including stories that span and cross the speculative genres of science fiction, fantasy, horror, weird fiction, magic realism, and alternate history. The majority of stories included in the anthology will be from writers in Ukraine, and for most of them it will be the first time their work will be translated into English.

@northernbassist @Museek That guy has had quite a life. Smithsonian magazine did a biopic a while back.

@sheseala didn't we all do that in Electronics class? Plug a hotdog into a wall outlet? Right?
No?
Just me?

@Dreamnghrt Every living thing needs to be able to see the Milky Way. New rule.

@Kavalec Nice! Just set up a connection to Eternal September in Thunderbird. Blast from the past.

@Museek I think Gorman has a good framing:
"And yes, we are far from polished,
far from pristine,
but that doesn’t mean we are
striving to form a union that is perfect.
We are striving to forge a union with purpose,
to compose a country committed to all cultures, colors, characters, and
conditions of man.
And so we lift our gazes not to what stands between us
but what stands before us.
We close the divide because we know, to put our future first,
we must first put our differences aside."

@kel @Netherbury I can totally get with a dirty chai. No pumpkins will be harmed.

Your "pumpkin" spice is probably butternut squash or other, non-disgusting-tasting squash.

@Agatha Yeah. Looks like the squirrels are tearing into the fallen nuts right now -- lot of bite marks. But that's all it is, bites, because the meat hasn't formed yet.
It's normal to lose some right around now, but from what I can see it's a big "2nd drop". And I don't see much left up there.

FMI if anyone's curious/bored, expected to be at Phase 2, Nut Filling*:
