Heart breaking today. Have to have the landscaper guy cut down an ash tree. Feels like a sin against nature, and the birds will be pissed come nesting time. Don't wanna even think of the bark lizards' despair. But the tree needs to go. Roots are damaging walls, heading for neighbor's pool in on direction and the foundation of my house in another direction.

@GaryPoole Agreed! Even used the method in winter in Montana. Which worried the spouse something fierce. Kept waking up too hot because he kept covering that regulator foot up.

Morning thought:
Pandering to extremists is essentially like giving into blackmail. They say that they'll stop hurting you if you pay up; but once you've paid, why wouldn't they keep the pressure on to make you pay more? Ultimately, there's nothing you can do to satisfy them, as what they really want to do is to hurt you. The best thing to do is to cut all ties and not negotiate. If that involves losing something, it's better than being the puppet of criminals.

Poor Bobo, Stehhanie Ruhle picked on her too. Some MSNBC viewers were aghast at Boebert being on, but I figure Ruhle did a public service. Perhaps Lauren will now have second thoughts about shooting her mouth off on the TV device.

There are several possible levels of embarrassment for Kevin McCarthy tomorrow:
Lowest level: Wins Speakership with ~220 votes, only losing a couple of extremists
Moderate embarrassment: Wins Speakership, but by absolute minimum of 218 votes
Serious embarrassment: Fails to win speakership with 212-217 votes, goes to second ballot
Severe embarrassment: Gets 211 votes or less, comes in second to Hakeem Jeffries on first ballot
Total embarrassment: 6 Rs switch votes, Jeffries wins.

@yadayadayada Gaimen is a strong supporter of libraries, especially in rural states where libraries truly operate on a shoestring budget. He sends boxes of books to tiny libraries and is a sure bet to show up to speak at workshops where money to get speakers is tight. He is generous, in the extreme, with his time, chatting unhurriedly with librarians from tiny towns at meetings and training sessions. He's the real deal supporting our rights to books.

Look on the bright side. Perhaps Melon's largess with the wing nuts on Twitter will benefit the nation in the long run. 😉 If the fools don't realize being able to tweet lies doesn't inoculate them from consequences beyond twitter's mud pit, more will be exposed, and maybe sued.
