Yes, 10/1/24 to be exact, and the announcement was incorrect, I want to delete it but I want to make sure I apologize to everyone for repeating an unconfirmed “alert” from an over the air DTV channel, which turned out isn’t true.

I sure would appreciate an over the air CBS retraction tho, at least to vindicate me a tiny bit 🫤

Glad he's still around. I wonder how different the world would be if he'd gotten a second term? The Reagan era might not have taken place. Wall street , banks and corporations wouldn't be as utterly all-powerful. The 1% would be a little less wealthy (a tragedy, I know), unions would've been able to ask for better wages and trickle-down economics would've remained the preposterous full of shit theory it completely turned out to be.

Yup. I remember that whole fiasco with the hostages and the oil embargo, and republicans letting all the sh’t hit the fan so he’d not be re-elected. I also remember that his fed chief raised interest rates so high that it effectively broke the back of inflation for the following 30 years.

The 80s, 90s and ought’s price controls were still benefitting from his term. Whether known/admitted by republicans, or not.

Every day he got bashed for not knowing how many hostages there were. He KNEW but couldn't say publicly because there were ppl hiding in the Canadian embassy. Of course the republicans knew, at least the most senior positioned did as they negotiated with the Iranians to wait until after the election for their release to happen after Reagan was sworn in.

Yes and he and his right wing cronies spewed that they would be better off being released. I've worked in those places, most of them were unable to function outside of an institution and it wasn't "institutionalization" as they liked to call it back then. Most of them ended up on the streets. We can thank Saint Ronnie Raygun for starting the 'homeless problem' for the most part.

Agreed, but I swear ✋ that’s what the announcement said (on an over-the-air CBS news DTV station), it said “37th president” when he in fact was the 39th. They repeated it twice, and I failed to check with a second source before posting it, I have learned a hard lesson (again) I should’ve know better 🫤
