I haven’t watched any news. In a further attempt to protect my brain, I bought 3 books: Two #StarWars books and one #DragonAge book. My brain is still soaked in sadness, so I will give it candy.

Folks may perceive I am dismissing the heartbreak of the election outcome too readily.
I am not. I am deeply upset by events, the betrayal of the news media, the sale of our nation to a few billionaires. I’m angry that countless people will suffer more losses of freedom and safety. I’m scared.
So I am in a “both/and” mindset. This is horrible AND I am living the best I can right now. People I love are fading. I don’t want to miss today. I choose to live and love. No surrender.

I'm logging off now, because I'm getting (more) worked up. But when Democrats win, the takeaway is NEVER "Wow, I guess the country is more left than we thought! We should work with the Dems."
But this fucking monster, telling his voters they didn't even need to vote, wins and even the Dems are like "Wow, I guess the country is more right wing than we thought! We'd better cross the aisle."
It's bullshit. No one should accept any of this.
I didn't even open the laptop yesterday. I always prided myself on staying informed, but now, I don't want any part of the news. I literally don't know what to do with myself. Just seeing the ticker here was enough to make me cry. (Yes, I turned on ostrich mode.)
I don't think she should have conceded. There should have been an audit first. Something. Anything.

What do we do after disaster?
Chop wood, carry water.
We have to try. We can't give up. We have to take care of each other as best we can. We can't let ourselves be silenced. We have to circle up, backs to backs, and protect one another, especially those who are most vulnerable to this oncoming future. We have to find a way to hold on to whatever is nailed down well enough in America that they cannot steal it, whatever structures and bulwarks can take our weight.
