Duke Ellington -- Night Creature (Second Movement): Stalking Monster

🎃

I watched the Scare Up The Vote video on YouTube. It was delightful and, at times, incredibly moving. Give it a watch if you care about, well, anything. It will give your TBR pile a massive growth spurt.

I did not know Alma Katsu had a 35yr career in Intelligence. She said her former colleagues in Intelligence and National Security are terrified of a second Trump term. Now that is blood-curdling.

OMG, there was a Scare Up The Vote event for Harris & Walz. This lineup of horror writers in insane. How did I miss this?

I asked my Mets fan husband how he was feeling this morning, and he started singing "I'm not sad, you're sad" from Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. 🤣

It wandered to CoSo’s court...
Where splatting is a popular sport!

And with one swift *splat*
That was the end of that!
And the troll learned it is best to abort!

There once was a wee baby troll
Who stumbled out of its bolt-hole.
Thought it came to play,
So it started to bray,
But in these parts we stop, block, and roll.

My hopes for a Subway Series are fading. 😖

My nephew went to orchestral show last night. The first half was various space-themed classical music (lots of Holst's The Planets), and the second half was all music from Star Wars. I'm so jealous. ❤️

My dad thought he saw the comet, so he called to ask if I could see it too.

There was too much light pollution, but my phone camera was picking up stars, so I took a picture.

I got the comet by accident! 🤣

Then I grabbed my binoculars and had a nice long look at Tsuchinshan-ATLAS. So freaking awesome!

And sometimes the mummies were then ground up and used in "medicines" that were thought to make people live longer.

Went to a rally today for the local Dems and Paula Collins, who is running to unseat Stefanik. It was fantastic. Then I went to a Halloween event at a house museum, where they discussed burial/mourning rituals from different cultures.

I learned that, when wrapping mummies, the Egyptians would include gems and such. Then I learned that wealthy Europeans would buy Egyptian mummies and have unwrapping parties to see what falls out. 😱

The bad: Friday night takeout ended with me finding a piece of steak at the bottom of my vegan rice and beans bowl. 🤢

The good: We went to my dad's and watched the Mets and Yankees win. 👍 👍
