@gshevlin Truly! And who knows? Maybe it’ll be better than my cooking anyway. 🤣

Tonight is the monthly local progressives potluck dinner. Normally, I cook something tasty, but after all the driving I’ve done for the last three weeks, I’m just taking a store bought pie.

The electric car is sold and we are home once more. Today we ran errands, including setting an appointment to meet with an auctioneer on Tuesday to discuss an estate sale. Progress is finally happening on the home front! Next step, Spanish visas. We can do this!

@feloneouscat That has been my only complaint with the car as well. In all other respects, it’s fantastic. Comfortable, nimble, quick, great hvac, good cargo room for a compact car, good ergonomics…but that infotainment is not great. I use Apple car play with google maps, and I like the screen size and ease of use for that, but I literally never use any of the rest of the software they put on the system. It’s clunky and not intuitive.

@feloneouscat Yay! Glad I could help! How are you liking the car? We have a Bolt.

It’s next to a medical marijuana store. 🤣

For those of you with EVs, I highly recommend the “A Better Route Planner” app for long trips. It not only tells you where the chargers are but it works with google or apple maps for navigation and will let you see if there are any machines that are broken or occupied and what restaurants, hotels, and even dog friendly spaces are available around the chargers. It’s fantastic.

A good night’s sleep and a hearty breakfast have restored my faith in humanity. Even Mona is feeling the good vibes, especially after getting some scrambled egg on her dog food. Today we’re headed to St. Augustine, Florida. Can’t wait to see the ocean.

Day 2 is much better so far since we got up early and are planning to stop before dark this time. Charging has been easy and inexpensive, and all the stops have been great. Feeling energized again and enjoying the adventure.

@BlueStateBabe GM has put in fast chargers at dealerships across the country, and that’s been fantastic. They work. They’re priced right, and they’re quick.

The biggest issue is the season. Battery life goes way down in the cold. So if we were traveling in winter, I’d never have taken this car. In the summer, we get nearly twice the distance on the same amount of charge.

With good planning, the car is great for travel. Stops are an hour, which is healthy anyway.

@BlueStateBabe Mostly good. Driving from Missouri to Minnesota is a breeze.

But going to Florida has been a little rocky. We’ve had two charging stations that didn’t work and had to drive elsewhere. Another was in a parking lot that was fenced off in the evenings, but our trip planning app didn’t tell us that we couldn’t use it. If we had left earlier in the morning or planned better for our place to sleep for the night, this issue could have been avoided.

Driving my EV from Missouri to Florida is an adventure. Even more so with my anxious doggo and my mother. No one needs this kind of excitement after midnight. No one.

@MookyTroubadour Exactly! Yes. It’s a waste of my time and energy. Anyone who doesn’t know what Ann Coulter, Trump, and Vance are about or who engages in false equivalencies is a lost cause at this point.

Zero days since a stranger last tried to start a fight with me on the internet.

This is in regards to Ann Coulter’s comments about Tim Walz’s son.

Reminding myself that I don’t have to participate in every fight that’s offered to me.
