Do Liberals want to ban all weapons? News to me.
Responsible, uncrazy and unviolent people who've taken safety classes in the use and fire of arms should be able to own weapons. That's my take on it.
That's a tower so ivory it's a straw man and the propagation of a lame "Liberal" stereotype.
(With all due respect Volty!! ;-) )
It's a massive dilemma with too much charged language for there to be solutions to the issue, which I think there are very practical ones that probably would be acceptable to both sides, but the 2nd Amendment isn't just about guns anymore. It's a cultural battle cry and an excuse for people like the guy you quoted to demonize anyone with half a brain as ivory tower liberals, which is pathetic and laughable, yet it will be taken as an accepted truth by those who need to hate.
I do. Learning how to shoot a gun is as much about learning how to stay calm and breath evenly and not freak the fuck out while someone is shooting at you, as much as it is about aiming the gun.
Short answer: YES.
I'd have a little more respect for the other side of this discussion if they'd stop attempting to elevate it and just admit they care more about owning toys that make loud noises than they care about needless deaths.
Toddlers playing with guns kill more people in America than terrorists do.

I enjoy the "I might have to defend myself!" argument. The fact is, hardly anyone successfully defends themselves with a gun.
Did you know that trained police officers only hit what they aim at about one time in five in real life shootouts?
