TODAY would be a good day for all Counter.Social users still on Twitter to post this:

When will manufacturing engineers learn that you cannot attach a spring to a plastic lever and expect it to endure repeated stress?

Sick of cheap ass bullshit parts and planned obsolescence of everything.

If you aren't paying, that's because YOU are the product they're selling.

Consider going Pro to help keep this place alive. There's nothing like it anywhere else, and you'd be sad if it was gone.

Let's talk about how social media is funded.

Every other social media network pays for servers, bandwidth, and ancillary support by SELLING YOU.

Your ad impressions, your follows, your posts. Every tap, every pause of the scroll. If you've installed their apps, then they're tracking your entire life to monetize you.

CounterSocial is different. We are sustained by our awesome Pro subscribers. You aren't a product to be sold here. You're a supporter.

Consider going Pro, if you can.

It seems counter-intuitive to name anything designed to wear on your feet "slippers."

Just say'n.

@Alfred Why is it so difficult for people to develop an observing ego that allows them to look objectively at themself?

A Sanctuary away from all the standard rage posts, single-eyed tunnel vision users. A reminder that I like music in my life adn was missing it. People aren't afraid to discuss esoteric areas of personal interest or thought. I feel connected in a way that I never experienced on other sites. It is possible to actually HAVE a conversation and get tknow the community of super interesting users. So many options, bells and whistles.

That anger you felt on Twitter? It was intentionally fomented by an algorithm to keep you clicking, emotionally manipulating you to sell more ads. It didn't stay there either. It seeped into your life, poisoning you and your interactions in ways you didn't realize.

There's none of that here. Give it a few days, and you'll see.

There is no algorithm here. That means a few very important things:

1. It's on YOU to curate your content. Set up FILTERS to manage your feed.
2. You should be very deliberate about who you follow. Follow-backs are not expected here.
3. Follower and like counts are meaningless. You're measured by the quality of your contribution, and nothing else.
4. You're expected to mute and/or block disagreeable people without hesitation.

It isn't automatic, but making it yours is well worth it.

Relationships thoughts

How many of you read aloud to you lover. Or write letters by hand, on paper, and snail mail. Do things before they are asked of you. Sit in silence listening intensely to your lovers words. Habit and boredom are the death of love, spontaneity and humor feed it. Disagree lightly, and hold no grudges. But also speak passionately about your beliefs and ideas. It is a dance, not a race. Water flowing is the model.

Love is a verb.

Unlike elsewhere, CounterSocial isn't big on drama. If you see anyone who you consider to be disagreeable, you are encouraged to quietly make them disappear. You have three options:

1. Block. This person disappears, and they can't see you.
2. Mute. This person disappears, but they can still see you.
3. Soft Mute. This person disappears until they mention you.

People are like flavors. You won't like them all, and they won't all like you. Skip the drama. Use the tools.
