@jpderboghossian Welcome to CoSo! In case you don't already have it, here's the link to the user manual, it's really helpful: counter.social/userguide.pdf
Loving your bookcases!

I've been here for over five years. If there's one thing that I've learned, it's that CoSo isn't for everyone.

Don't like it here? Awesome. Go find someplace that will make you happy, and with our blessing.✌️

"Refugees" is the perfect word for those of us coming in from Twitter. Of course we want our new place to look, act, and feel like the old one. Of course anything different at first seems "wrong." Of course we expect the kinds of things we did back home to work here. But it's a new land. And it's pretty damned beautiful when you stop to look around a bit. Thanks for welcoming me into your CoSo world. I'll try not to be too annoying while I figure it out. 🙂

"I wasn't very good at Twitter."

It probably wasn't you. To "succeed" at Twitter, you had to battle a malicious algorithm that worked overtime to suppress you while elevating malicious accounts.

CounterSocial has no algorithms and no malicious accounts, so you're free to be yourself. Spend some time here merely being you, and you'll quickly see the difference.

Are you worried about looking like an idiot while you're trying to figure things out here?

Don't. We're a kind community full of helpful people, and we're all in this together. If you have a question or need help, all you have to do is ask.

CounterSocial is not Twitter.

That's the whole point.

@Geogger Welcome! I'm Canadian but spent a wonderful winter living in Pembrokeshire, so your dragon caught my eye ❤️ The user guide definitely helps: counter.social/userguide.pdf
And you can use hashtags to find people who share your love of etc.

The API is currently locked down (not forever) since the last 24 hours as it was being abused in order to create a DoS condition.

@Teri_Kanefield Really nice to see you posting over here. In case it helps (and you don't already have it) here's the user guide for counter social: counter.social/userguide.pdf
Thanks for coming over!

@bradreed Kelley Armstrong's Haunted does a great job. There's a prologue set in the past - the dead first-person narrator, Eve, comes in around page 10 or 11, I think, at Chapter One.

For anyone who's recently arrived here from The Bad Place, here's the CoSo user guide: counter.social/userguide.pdf
And I've learned that if you have any questions at all, you just put out a general shout on the Community firehose and someone comes to your rescue!
Welcome ❤️

Almost a week here and I didn’t even have to look for a block button.

The respect, kindness and love on CoSo is so heartwarming.

Thank you so much, @th3j35t3r!!

Love you all! ❤️

@nrlines If you look at the user manual there's an "ostrich" mode that cuts down some of the extra stuff, but you really do get used to it (and I say this as someone who initally went AAGGH!) 😀

@nrlines Hiya! Great to see a familiar face. Here's the user manual if you haven't already found it: counter.social/userguide.pdf

On Thursday, a team of researchers presented evidence that bumblebees, like humans, like to play with fun little objects.

After engaging 45 bumblebees in a bunch of experiments, it became clear the bees went out of their way to roll wooden balls repeatedly, despite no apparent incentive to do so.
