I remember earlier this year when Jens Stoltenberg, Secretary General of NATO, was repeatedly pressed by journalists as to what NATO's response would be if Russian missiles hit #Poland. This was when strikes had hit Lviv, close to the Polish border.
His answer every time was the same: verify, verify, verify.
This is a story that's going to move very slowly, and that's important, because of all the possible implications. As with everything involving the war in Ukraine. Verify, verify, verify.

@SarahAvery @MaryHerself I love it when a song gives you an insight into character. In the book Mary mentioned, The Vanished Days, my hero walked onto the page as a fairly quiet, reserved dude, but then one day I was in the car and THIS song came on the radio and he started moving around and I thought: Huh. 🤔 Guess I don't know him as well as I thought I did. Obviously a few more layers there I need to peel back...

@MaryHerself ...and I totally know what it's like to get derailed. Life will do that to you, sometimes. Just try to always remember to breathe. Every story takes the time it takes. Be gentle with yourself.

What usually happens with me is I'm driving along, minding my own business, and a song comes on the radio and suddenly my characters start moving, playing out a scene in my mind, like they're in a music video (stupid #writer subconscious)
So I grab that song and add it to the playlist, and if I'm lucky, every time I play it I get a bit more of that scene. Or at least a bit more of that character.
Hero in current #wip seems to like James Arthur...
Although I write in silence (or with white noise on my headphones) I build playlists of the songs that set my characters in motion in my mind. The hero of my last book REALLY came alive to this one:

S.A.D. sufferer here, and I wanted to share a lifesaver with others who are affected by the winter blues. I have to say that DAYLIGHT LIGHTBULBS have been a lifesaver for me! Affordable. They may not help everyone, but they do the trick for me (I also take vitamin D, and use aromatherapy)

Things are destined to get a lot busier around here. It's inevitable. Some tips to keep us sane:
1. Mute or block anyone who harshes your mellow.
2. Welcome newcomers, report asshats.
3. Follow who you like. Post about what you like. That's how followings are made.
4. Turn off the Community Firehose if it ever overwhelms you.
5. There's a moment between authoring the post and posting the post. USE IT. If you post mean-spirited content, then we all look mean-spirited. See #1.
