As someone who doesn't make a ton of money, I find it often difficult to donate to worthy causes. Now, I get why rich people donate to politics, they do it for influence and power, it sucks but I get it... why average citizens would donate money to politics, i'm obviously thinking of Trump but anyone applies here... je ne comprends pas les amis.

@Stevo it’s also a big tax write off. That’s the other reason they donate

@Stevo I won’t give one red cent to any of them. They have their Corporate donors in their pockets.

I did donate $3 to Obama when he ran the first time.

@VelvetDuchess Obama was special tho, i'm Canadian and i'm like wow, that's a great man right there.

@Stevo The very first time I heard Obama in a news I KNEW he would be our Next President.

@VelvetDuchess @Stevo I allocated a fair chunk of my modest philanthropic budget during the last election cycle to some very tight congressional races across the country. Why? Because to live in a country with a Republican controlled Congress directly affects the safety of my family and me. The Democrats in those races were being vastly outspent by their opponents. I don't watch TV, but most people, including undecided voters, do. And no, political contributions are not in fact tax-deductible.

@Notokay @VelvetDuchess That's a whole other problem I have with the system. Feels like everyone should have to operate with the same maximum budget in the interest of putting everyone on the same level playing field.

@Stevo @VelvetDuchess Absolutely. The US Senate used to be known as the richest boys club in the country. But it's the system we have. And the election of Raphael Warnock, for one, was incredibly important. At least until they blatantly bought a sitting senator, the unprincipled Krysten Sinema.
