@DrSarahMacEachern Follows are how you curate what you see. There isn’t a magic algorithm here so followers don’t matter. Everyone can be visible on the firehose. So follow who you want, don’t be upset if someone stops following you, and don’t worry too much about the number. The point is to talk to people, not to game the system.

Please use caution when bringing Twitter nonsense here: QTing stuff to dunk on it ended up being one of the most problematic, toxic elements there. It kept putting people in front of me I'd decided to ignore.
I'll beg if I have to: please, please, please stop fixating on what you want to oppose, and live into what you want to give your energy to, and what you want to celebrate.
I've found that being in a "for" community is much more productive than being in an "against" community.

@SECRET_ASIAN_MAN One further thought: the fact that there isn't a stream of things that CoSo thinks are trending is kind of a good thing. It means there isn't some secret algorithm deciding for you that you should see some things and not others. I think less transparent filtering and processing is what makes it better.

PSA - for new COSONAUTS - you can customize your view as you please, you can pin your friends, direct messages, lists, searches, and more as columns and re-order them too. Here's what my rig looks like >>
@SECRET_ASIAN_MAN I pinned #cosonews and #news in a column and it does a good job of filtering down to news posts. I think that's the magic sauce for CoSo is making effective use of hashtags and making a column for each topic you care about.

Ya’ll have no idea how happy this increase makes some of the long time users. We’ve been slowly growing for five years and this is Incredible. So happy for the person who built this sandbox, he deserves this win. Also happy for the new folks who settle in and enjoy this community. It’s really indescribable to watch. So proud.💛
Some new reference material came today. I was surprised how much I already knew (20+ years playing with computers will do that) even though I’m not an “infosec professional”. Learned some new tricks too! 😁
