@sirgeefive There is the expectation amd there is the reality.
@dauphin87 Negotiate but be prepared they aren't going to move orders of magnitude.
Counter but think if you would take something else if they can't move on money as much. (vacation, title, other perqs?)
@JV3MJD Four part podcast on RFK Jr
Behind the Bastards
It covers all the weirdness. I felt bad for him and learned to thoroughly dislike his mother. She damaged her kids after Bobby was shot.
But when you see how RFK Jr. is directly accountable to deaths from a measles outbreak in American Samoa you'll learn to hate him.
@Razdawg22 @TheNewsOwl Many political toddlers out there.
They think they are doing something by not accepting imperfect options.
@Razdawg22 @TheNewsOwl Many don't.
They are just on a high horse about "not voting for genocide" and didn't vote or voted 3rd party.
This election was about reducing harm. They chose to walk away from the switch entirely rather than choose the least damaging option.
@AkomoCombine @TheNewsOwl Never claim to love someone and vote for someone who wants to hurt them.
This isn’t minor differences in fiscal policy.
Vote for hate. Get hate. Simple.
@LnzyHou On PT off and on for years. Finally coming to conclusion I shouldn't let up when it feels better.
And I get to have an MRI every six months for the foreseeable future to watch a growth hopefully not grow. None so far for 18 months.
Surgeon said it "probably was a benign cyst" but watch it.
I feel your pain. But motion is medicine! (Keep repeating that until you believe it; not there yet personally. )
@Helical_Code @feloneouscat. Hell, I count most evil back to 1980 with Reagan and Newt.
But just because some elder person in Congress had a good career doesn't mean they deserve to hurt their side by holding on waaay too long. Diane Feinstein is personally responsible for holding up judge appointments.
I used to oppose term limits, but if we can't otherwise remove the incumbent advantage then I reconsider, particularly the Senate.
SCOTUS terms should be 20 years rather than lifetime, too.
@Helical_Code @feloneouscat We needed a vigorous primary, not a "Oh shit, we have to appoint someone and make up lost ground!"
But don't get it twisted that people worried about this outcome weren’t the problem. The U.S. government should look like America.
Wait until the conservatives replace their older justices with 40 year olds so we are stuck for several generations.
@Helical_Code @feloneouscat He isn't. Neither is Jon Stewart. This is a mischaracterization.
He isn't remotely saying they are equivalent. He IS SAYING Biden let his own ego get in front of what was best for the country.
Pelosi was right. He started implying he was a transition president, making way for someone else. Then he reneged and it took too damned long to accept reality and step down.
Biden did a lot of good. But he also contributed to this massive failure being stubborn.
@thedisasterautist Took me a second.
Alabamafication of America.
He previously posted he told someone he was disappointed in the election but "used to it" living in Alabama. Then coined the term Alabamification.
Spot on observations.
@redenigma Meh, pointless observation.
I will join the Andrew Jackson was terrible crowd certainly. BUT, Jackson wasn't Hitler. Jackson didn't try to be an authoritarian to stay in power indefinitely.
Comparing ROLLBACK of hardwon rights of this century to early 19th century, pre-Civil War America, when we, hell, the world, had LOTS of human rights issues in general misses the point.
17,000 people died on the Trail of Tears under Jackson. 16.8 million died in the Holocaust.
@Resister_Grandma A lot of people who did vote, I mean.
Regardless, I don't give the people who withheld votes less blame than those who changed to vote for him.
I already wrote off the diehard Trumpers. But 2020 Biden voters flipped back. Gotta get that fixed.
@Resister_Grandma I think the lower turnout likely could be attributed to progressives angry about continued support of Israel. Egged on by foreign trolls they stopped listening to rational discussion of the alternative consequences.
Still, a LOT of people decided "inflation" is more important than rights. Many rationalized "He won't REALLY do all those things" and some already regret having voted on vibes with zero research into all those things.
@LindaWisner @Bix Different administration will not play by the same rules.
Board of Governors can be replaced.
Forever angry at this administration playing with different rules.
@DarkAlfred What countries have moved to authoritarian government in the past ten years?
@stueytheround @TheNewsOwl @JolieSaboteuse Trying not to be that negative since he did a lot of good when he had the chance. But his biggest mistake in my opinion was Merrick Garland as AG. Garland was always relative conservative, appointed to SCOTUS as a moderate Pubs couldn't object, but they didn’t care.
Sally Yates was RIGHT THERE.
