@Zevon I had been until about May, and then I resstarted medical cannabis and that elminated my need to be on Keto.
So, I'm on it again just to support my wife.
@SECRET_ASIAN_MAN I found the high protein meat diet works best for me to achieve weight loss. Hope you're doing better with the
@Zevon By BMI, I'm considered obese. Ugh.
@SECRET_ASIAN_MAN I hate the BMI I think it needs an overhaul
I had a heart attack when I did keto for a year. I do much better on a vegan high-fiber diet. (Not low fat, and only incidentally highish in carbs.)
I believe there are genetic components to how people metabolize various foods and science still has so much to learn.
I'm sorry to hear that happened to you and hope all is well now :) Yes, everyone is unique. I have two vegan Keto recipe books but haven't tried the meal plans. I should. Meat is so expensive! @tyghebright @SECRET_ASIAN_MAN
That was Christmas 2017, and I've done OK since then. Having a heart attack was scary, especially since I was under 50.
Still need to lose weight and exercise, but that's a lack of consistency on my part. I know what works best for me. My mental health improves when I stick to a vegan diet. (No sugar, minimal processed food, too.)
@SECRET_ASIAN_MAN Just remember, being 5 pounds underweight carries greater heart risks than being 20 pounds over.
@AskTheDevil Not sure when that will be though. According to BMI, I"m obese.
@SECRET_ASIAN_MAN Do you feel healthy and happy with how you look in the mirror? That's my favorite metrics! : )
@SECRET_ASIAN_MAN @AskTheDevil I've never like the BMI metric, far too generic. Technically rmmosy rugby players and probably America football players will be "obese" according to BMI
@rych @SECRET_ASIAN_MAN My normal, healthy weight for most of my adult life, for decades, was 210-220 pounds. I'm of average height, but had lots of muscle mass and a large frame.
I am now 156 pounds.
All my bones are visible, I can't regulate body temp, and shake and ache from muscle loss.
But my BMI says I am healthy!
@AskTheDevil @SECRET_ASIAN_MAN I remember when the original height/weight and BMI charts came out in the UK. The stopped at 6 foot tall. I'm 6'3" so the way the curve was drawn I could never ever be obese irrespective of how much weight I put on. Which is clearly bollocks.
@AskTheDevil @rych @SECRET_ASIAN_MAN
When I worked for local government, they added a health incentive program with all sorts of support things.
One part of that was a BMI test.
I cannot tell you how many firemen (yah, the hunky fit kind) "failed" BMI because it doesn't account for quite a few body types.
Silly measurement.
@Cosmichomicide @rych @SECRET_ASIAN_MAN My skeleton is about twice the size of a friend of mine's who is the same height, because I was a muscular mesomorph that was physically active, and they are a slight, ectomorphic person who did desk jobs. They actually weigh more than me now, and I'm still _bigger_.
@SECRET_ASIAN_MAN Amazing results!!!
@SECRET_ASIAN_MAN are you doing the meat protein keto diet?
