@LiberalLibrarian Never tasted it.
@Agatha @LiberalLibrarian @ToruOkada I did see some very odd TV when I was home sick as a kid.
Those early "reality shows" like "Divorce Court" were really cheesy.
@LiberalLibrarian @Agatha @ToruOkada I first saw I, Claudius on PBS when I was probably too young to watch it.
Which didn't stop me from getting very into it.
@Agatha @ToruOkada Well, yes, it was in reruns when I watched it.
@ToruOkada @Agatha Well, I'm barely over 50 and I grew up on them...
@cmskiera Well, I stand by my childhood Janophilia.
@LiberalLibrarian On Spain's political front, it looks like Sanchez still has a chance at forming a government. The king gave the first mandate to Feijoo, but few seem to see any path to a majority for him - while Sanchez seems to be making progress with the Catalan separatist parties.
@mcfate I mean, if he actually thinks this decree solves everything...
@mcfate Clearly not, no.
@mcfate Putin's expectation that they'll all loyally throw themselves back into the fight in Ukraine after swearing loyalty to him seems... flawed.
@mcfate They'll probably go to ground for now... but you never know how the forces he's playing with will ultimately go.
This climate of fear is of course what Putin wanted.
But it has the potential to cut two ways. Caligula might warn that such a climate also runs the risk for Putin that those around him will decide "he'll kill us all if this continues" - and then they *might* risk banding together against him.
Time will tell.
@Redskye572 "This is MY grift! Get yer own!"
@holon42 As one ex-R pundit put it, she doesn't start these fights but she sure finishes them.
Oh man, you've gotta love the community note on this unintentionally ludicrous Trumpist 'threat.'
@LiberalLibrarian They still hit the mark sometimes, but they have a LOT of fails.
@SentinelOfTruth @LiberalLibrarian @ChristopherNoyesRoberts But this court does that all the time.
Although I don't expect them to do what many Rs now demand and void birthright citizenship. The amendment's text is too clear on that. I can't see 5 votes to overturn it. (I can certainly see 2, maybe 3. But not 5.)
Center-left academic type. Generally pissed about the state of the world but I know none of our endless crises are actually new because I'm a historian.
