I needed to force myself to speak on this. I can't stay silent, not anymore.

Too long has the LGBTQ+ and trans community lived in fear of the christonationalists and evangelicals. Many of us have been scared into closets time and time again because of incidents just like last nights shooting. I don't know how many here understand the type of fear these shootings strike among us.

I genuinely asked my husband if I should go back into the closet. 1/

I didn't expect him to answer in the way he had. He looked me dead in the eye and said. "After all the hard work you put into getting out of it? Are you kidding me? No. Stand tall, I love you and I am scared but you deserve to be happy with yourself too."
Why don't the rest of the people of this country understand this? It's not hard to let people live as they deserve to, happy and in peace, but there's so many guns on the streets, and so many radical sects of christian nationalism! 2/

I want what everyone else in this country wants. To be myself, to be real about it, and to live in peace with that. There's too many youths and too many trans folk like me that are in this for the long haul and getting scared by radicals acting out of hate and misguided beliefs. Something has to break, but it's not going to be me. For all my transbrothers, sisters, and siblings, I'm here for you. I'm here to speak out and to ask everyone, if you have a heart, fight back against the hate!

There's so many states right now that have active antiLGBTQ bills being debated over, Churches and leaders speaking hate against us, but not one of them have a clue what it's like to live in this kind of fear. I stand for my sibling transfolk today, because we need to be heard, we need to be seen, and we need to be recognized for what we are. WE ARE HUMAN! Just like you! WE HAVE HEARTS! Just like you. We do not deserve to be treated this way.

As a citizen of the United States of America, I am BEGGING YOU. Help us. You are watching a genocide of an entire section of the US population every time you vote for these antiLGBTQ bills, every time you allow someone to speak hate about us, every time you listen to a church leader pray for our "cure" or deaths. Stop allowing it to continue! You can make a change for all of us. But we have to work together to make it possible for a brighter future for all.

Admittedly, I am absolutely terrified for the future of this nation with the way current trends in crime are. I am scared that my seven year old son will not grow up to graduate from high school, or go to his first prom, or even be able to marry his first love. He knows mama is trans, and he loves me just the same. A child in innocence but he understands that mama is not what mama appears to be on the outside right now and he accepts that. If a 7 yr old CIS boy can accept me, why can't others?

I'm no professional writer, but I've used chat, email and forums since the birth of the internet. English is my native tongue and I can write a hell of a speech if I'm given cause for it. What's going on in the US with the LGBTQ and transfolk, is abhorrent and a nightmare for anyone in the community. I tossed and turned last night thinking over all of this. No rest for the weary and frightened I suppose. I ask you, if someone speaks hate, speak out against it. One word is all.
"Stop."

@PaganMother I am so sorry that you even have to think about these things. Please don’t stop being who you are because of somebody else’s small mind.

@PaganMother
Your thread has me near tears. I am sending you as much love as I can get my pudgy hands on.

@PaganMother
I don’t have any concept of judging someone for who they are or who they chose to be or to love
I am sad others do
And for those who who suffer this

@PaganMother Love WILL win over hate.

I will not let these hateful people dictate my life. I haven't even been out as non-binary for a year yet and this is the best I have ever felt about myself in almost 50 years on this planet, and I'm not about to let some hateful prick take that feeling away from me, or any of our trans and non-binary siblings.

I'll stand with you always to fight against the hate.

@PaganMother

♥️

I can't articulate it as well as others have, but we got your back.
I love YOU! ♥️

@PaganMother
Giant hug to you! I know it won't help much. Here's thing I did today: we were taking our bearded dragon to the shop for holiday boarding. The person who helped us situate our dragon struck me as likely NB or trans. I told them the story about how our kiddo named the dragon, and with my pronoun choice reflected that our kiddo is NB. I think they stood up just a little straighter after that.

@PaganMother I'm so sorry. Everyone has the right to be who they truly are. These terrorists have us all living in fear for ourselves, our children, our LGBTQ brothers and sisters. Hugs. Stand proud of who you are. Your husband sounds wonderful. 💔❤️

@PaganMother
I hear you.

My husband & I are SO upset
The rhetoric from magats, fox news,etc are inflaming this

@PaganMother Thank you for your courage! You are loved…for all of who you are.

@PaganMother my heart breaks that you have to question being your genuine self and being able to safely live that way 😢😢

@WeaselToo I don't want anyone to ever have to face this, ever ever, but in todays society and the current radical events taking place? It's hard not to question for personality safety over well being and peace of mind. ._.

@PaganMother
totally understandable. I just wish this conversation didnt even need to happen in 2022. 😔

@PaganMother My heart bleeds with yours. This ally stands with you. ❤️ 🏳️‍🌈
