So........ I just requested a "personal: leave of absence from work. Management SUCKS and is not helpful. I am at the end of my rope. I am in tears every day and I can no longer take another day. We shall see how this goes.
@MrsBentoBako Quite personal story to share on this subject: I used to work for a very well known dollar store in my local area as a shift manager. They skeleton crewed every single shift and I didn't get much say on how many hours I got, or who I was replacing per shift I was scheduled. I was diagnosed that same year with severe anxiety and suicidal depression and was undergoing treatment. A few months of grinding the hours out, I put in for family leave. 1/2
@MrsBentoBako My then manager chose to yell in my face about this two weeks after corporate approved my leave request, and scheduled me for that week I requested off anyway. I ended up calling my therapist in absolute bawling tears, told her what went down, and she told me flat out "Honey, if this is how you are treated, maybe finding a different job will be better for you and your mental health." 2/2
@MrsBentoBako You can take a guess on what I ended up doing: I quit for my mental health and personal well being, and have been looking for work ever since. This happened in 2016. My advice, put applications out to find a job that will work with you and give you time off for health reasons when you request it. Few min. wage jobs do today, but it's worth the hunt.
@MrsBentoBako But if you are stressed to the point that they are pushing you to this frame of mind, force them to fire you, and apply for unemployment in your state until you do find another more worthy company to work for. You deserve better, never let management tell you otherwise.
@PaganMother
I put in for leave today. I will hear from HR soon I an certain.
@MrsBentoBako All you can do in the meantime until you hear back from them is cry it out and try to find self comforts. Taking care of you is just as much a priority as your position is there, and if they can't allow you the time to handle your health, it's time to find a company that can, should and will.
@MrsBentoBako That is the wisest move you can make in regards to your mental health care. I'm glad your mother is there with you and aware of your problem and I do hope that things start to look up and move forward for you. Best of luck dear.
