Before I say what I'm going to say, let me remind you I have OCD.

I have somehow managed to misplace two pillowcases that go with my favorite set of sheets. I have torn apart my room looking for these damn things. My daughter came downstairs to help me. I can't find them. I don't ever take them out of my room. I'm totally mystified, aggravated, and pissed off. Where the hell are my pillowcases? What did I do with them?

How can I lose pillowcases?

@AlphaCentauri

One set of sheets is in the dryer. I went through them as I was taking them out of the washer. I took the other set out of the closet, unfolded them, and then folded them again to make sure there were no pillowcases inside my nicely folded fitted sheets. Thank you so much. 😂😂😂

@AlphaCentauri
I have a gray tabby male and a female void floof.

Nice comic!

@Oma_Trisha I think you have cats, right? Those pillowcases could be anywhere. 😉

@walterbays

Are you suggesting my slugs with fur would have the motivation to drag anything anywhere? 🤣🤣

@Oma_Trisha 👍
In my experience a cat can never bear to see any thing on top of another thing, and must correct it.

@walterbays

My broken $200 jewelry box agrees with you, but I don't put pillow cases on top of my dresser. They either go on my bed so they can be folded, or they go in the linen closet.

@disk4mat
No, ma'am. When I remove the sheets from my bed, they either go in the hamper or the washing machine. I only have two pillows, and they're right behind my head.

@Oma_Trisha Once I thought I lose some but it turned out that I'd tucked them into the sheet when I folded it because I read online that's a good way to keep them from getting separated. 🤨

I'm sure you'll find them as soon as you stop looking for them.

@nonayadambidnes

I know you're right, but I'm still aggravated. It rankles me when something that has a place along with everything else of that kind isn't where it's supposed to be even though that's where I always put it. I'm rankled. In fact, the rankling is dangerously close to becoming festering. I just want to remember what I did with my damn pillow cases.

@Oma_Trisha I hate losing things.

I very often lose things, and it is extremely difficult for me to find them afterwards.

I have episodic amnesia.

These things are connected.

@IrelandTorin

I've never heard of that. If you don't mind me asking, was it genetic, or did something happen to cause it?

I rarely lose things. Part of my OCD is keeping things where they belong. Exactly where they belong. It's annoying as hell when something that should be somewhere isn't there. They have to be here in my room. I just don't know where the hell 'here' is.

@Oma_Trisha It may be partly genetic, but it became very noticeable after a bad head injury.

Episodic amnesia is where you lack the ability to remember experiences, but your semantic memory (the ability to memorize specific information: facts, numbers, equations, &c) is intact.

If I take the time to verbalize what's happening, I can memorize my words the same way you'd memorize a poem (semantically) - but I'll never remember being there.

From my perspective, it's as if my past never happened.

@IrelandTorin

Wow. That's gotta be unsettling. On bad days, when shit from the past won't leave me alone and torments me, it almost sounds attractive.

@Cosmichomicide @Oma_Trisha

Oh boy, don’t be asking Oma T about her fitted sheets.

Or folding of aforementioned thereto. 😆

@InUnfunky @Oma_Trisha

I can fold a fitted sheet without breaking a sweat. One grandmother was all flats and hated slipcovers (what she called fitted). The other loved them. They both insisted on a tidy linen closet.

That said, I have personally made the pillowcases up in the bed (mostly while trying to work around cats), so figured it was worth a check. 🛏️

@Cosmichomicide @Oma_Trisha

Well then I’ll pester you (for the arcane knowledge) instead of Oma T. But the wheels might’ve already been set in motion…😎

😏

@InUnfunky @Oma_Trisha

Know those documentaries about obscure cultural traditions being kept alive by a small group of knowledge keepers passing it to a carefully curated new cohort? (cue soaring music, women in whimsical clothing)

Per Cosmic Jr, it's like that. 😂

@Cosmichomicide @Oma_Trisha

Okay, so folding once then rolling into a tube-shaped atrocity it is. 👍👍

@InUnfunky @Oma_Trisha

It wouldn't pass muster here, but it's not like either the sheet nor the made bed suffer any aesthetic or functional loss from such mistreatment.

Your linen closet, however, will be an unspeakable horror. 😱

@Cosmichomicide @InUnfunky

A place for everything, and everything in its place. Especially in the linen closet.

@Cosmichomicide @Oma_Trisha

Still giggling at “aesthetic or functional loss” btw. 🤓

@InUnfunky @Cosmichomicide

My own damn daughter is just as bad as you, and I taught her how to fold fitted sheets. 🤓

@Cosmichomicide @InUnfunky

Kinda like inheriting Granny's old cast iron skillet? 🤣🤣

@InUnfunky @Cosmichomicide

You're an instigator.

And an agitator.

You remind me of my kids. 🤭

@Cosmichomicide @InUnfunky

I don't know why people get all agitated about folding fitted sheets. I learned to do it when I was 10 years old. These people can code, but they can't fold a damn sheet? 🤣🤣🤣

I've found pillow cases folded up in the fitted sheets from time to time, but never made one up in the bed. I did it with a sock a few times, though.

@InUnfunky @Cosmichomicide

I unfolded the other two fitted sheets. There was nothing inside them. I unfolded the other two flat sheets, also. There was nothing inside them, either.

This is how dedicated I am to funding my fucking pillowcases.

Smartass. 🤪🤪

@Cosmichomicide

Since I just put them on yesterday, no. That's when I started getting frustrated because I couldn't find the pillow cases to go with this specific set of sheets, which happens to be my favorite. I had to use pillowcases that don't match.

No laughing. I will hear you.
