@QueenOfEverything @ExPatExp88 @Jakki @LnzyHou @sghamel @OldCountryDoctor Citizens United will be debated in law schools for decades as an example of how SCOTUS made a mistake. So will Dodds.

I am expat as well and to see the US from outside is very disturbing to many. The US is no longer looked upon as a leader and example for the world but rather somewhat of a joke. Speaking to friends here, locals, they don't understand how it could have happened. #politics
@OldCountryDoctor @QueenOfEverything the floor parallel I can think of between the rise of Fascism in Germany and what's happening here is how they marginalized certain groups.
In Germany it was the Jews
Here it's immigrants, legal and illegal, and now the gay community.
You can almost see the signs of a " Reichstag fire " coming together.
@OldCountryDoctor @QueenOfEverything I wouldn't say we've exactly had "Fascism" in power in this country, unless you want to count Mccarthyism during the " red scare".
But we're drifting closer to that direction with the current composition of the GQP.

What can the rest of the countries around the world think of America now?
Not only did trump get in the White House, but he brought in the red hoard. Then the Big Lie & attempted coup d'etat on Jan 6th.
2 YEARS LATER NONE OF THE KEY PLAYERS ARE IN PRISON.
And we've elected even more fascist, sexist, racist, homophobic, anti-everything that are supposed to serve their constituents, but are bought & paid for by special interests.

Democracy was created as a counter balance for the people against unelected power & wealth.
.
Billionaires funded 15% of the midterm elections. They represent 0.0002% of the population. That's a problem.

#political The republican/fascists understand that you don't give people the education/tools they need to overthrow you.
I know there are people onhere who live different #politics than I do. I don’t believe ‘political views’ are an excuse for hatred, and in my experience neither do others here.
My community, life experiences, may be different from yours. I think thats a feature.
Communities I love doesn’t mean we’re all alike. It means we’re all open to to learning from/with one another.
"Associate with people who are likely to improve you. Welcome those who you are capable of improving. The process is a mutual one: men learn as they teach." —Seneca
“The key is to keep company only with people who uplift you, whose presence calls forth your best.” — Epictetus
“First say to yourself what you would be; then do what you have to do.” — Epictetus
“Until we have begun to go without them, we fail to realize how unnecessary many things are." — Seneca
There will always be people who make it their entire life's purpose to bring down others ... to dim people's light ... to make people's life worse ... to cause trouble, to create and perpetuate rage and they thrive on it. It gives them life, it feeds them. Giving into these parasites, these unfortunate people is only feeding them more. Engaging with them is only building them up and making them feel satisfaction. And in the end you're the one who loses while they gain exactly what they want.
