@Sheree @Periwinkle

Thanks for the positive energies. Sending you all positive energy too. 💜💜

These times are challenging for all of us in one way and another. We will make it through.

@Periwinkle you and millions of others. I hope you get it back soon!

We’ve been fortunate in some ways. My job is “essential” so I have been working throughout this pandemic. The downside is we are older with health issues and if I catch it, I am at high risk for death or serious illness. Worse, my husband is a semi-invalid and VERY HIGH RISK.

If I were a few years older, I would retire...

@Periwinkle that he hoped I would step up self-sufficiency this year and have lots more food stocked up, because the indicators he is seeing have him concerned that it *may* get much, much worse.

Not everyone is even ABLE to prepare. Indeed, sadly many are in dire straits right now and may soon be homeless.

But those who are able should prepare for themselves and their extended families. Maybe we won’t need it. But how lucky do you feel?

@Periwinkle people are uncomfortable talking about another Depression because it is scary. But given the economic indicators, I think we MUST face the possibility that our economy is presently swirling around the drain, and about to go down, particularly since the one thing that was holding it somewhat together, the $600 per week unemployment, just ended.

My son works for a major corporation as a high level economist. He is conservative. He is NOT alarmist. He called me to tell me...

@Periwinkle

It’s not whack a doodle, though. I guess it depends on where you live. I live in the country, and pretty much EVERYONE has a stocked pantry and a garden. Many have chickens. Many stock a deep freezer with venison in the fall and that’s most of the family meat for a year.

And this way of life means whatever life throws at us, we’re generally prepared for it.

What seems whack a doodle is shopping EVERY SINGLE DAY, with no pantry. 🙃

@Madken65

Yes, that’s one of the silver linings in the pandemic, oddly.

But anyway, it is Thursday, or, as I prefer to think of it, Friday Eve Day.

Happy Thursday!

Good morning CoSoNauts!

Sipping coffee, nibbling bagel, scrolling through CoSo, and half-watching HeadlineNews.

HN reported a poll showing a very tight Presidential Race, results *within the margin of error.* OMGODDESS 👀

Need to do more this weekend!

@Periwinkle

So, here’s my viewpoint, for what it’s worth.

It is *always* wise to be prepared for the shit to hit the fan. Because even if it doesn’t happen as you think it might, shit happens. And being prepared helps you to get through. When this started, I had TP, face masks, food, etc. Just preps.

That said... One son is an agricultural economist. He told me to step up my usual prepping as things are likely to get worse. So. Get chickens. Can. Stock up. It’s possibly going to get worse.

The NY Attorney General also just announced a NATIONAL PRESS CONFERENCE tomorrow at 11:30AM ET.

@IanWolfe

Yes, people who used to gripe about having to be PC were wanting the freedom to be openly racist again.

I dream of a time when they all crawl back under their rocks and hide in shame.

@Sophiecat welcome! Check out for using this site — there’s a link to a really helpful pdf there.

@diabolic neither. Our youngest cat will unroll the TP all over the floor. Thus, we stand it on end on the roll holder. Someday, perhaps, she will out-grow her obsession with TP unrolling and we can resume the debate over how best to place a TP roll. 😸

@Anemone

I am so sorry. Suicide sucks.

I know this pain too damned well. Lost my sister, a co-worker, and a colleague to suicide.

💔💔💔

@janallmac

Yes. I am the queen of futile actions in defense of what I believe is right, but then, I am a public defender.

I simply cannot stand by and let overt racism stand without a fight.

I filed a complaint. I doubt it will go anywhere. Presiding judge is also a Trumpist.

My daughter-in-law is Chinese American, as is my grandson.

This is what we’ve come to. Racists are emboldened, empowered.

So pissed off.

Racism is Rampant!

Today at the courthouse I was bringing back lunch from the Chinese restaurant next door. One of the bailiffs was on the elevator with me.

He asked about my lunch. It was Chinese.

Bailiff: I don’t trust Those People!

Me: {Names of restaurant owners} are nice!

Bailiff: *interrupting* That’s just me, I’m old.

Bailiff: I don’t trust Those People! They opened their business but THEY aren’t sick!

Me: *exit elevator*

Bailiff: MEOW

Me: You racist asshole!

@Madken65

Ah, but I am enjoying the peace and quiet. I am getting snuggled by a cat, listening to the songbirds who are awakening to the early light, and it’s these moments, before the hustle and bustle of the day start, that I treasure. There’s time enough for making coffee. 😊
