This shadow on the Superstition Mountains, Apache Junction, AZ, the cougar, only appears twice a year for approximately a week just as the sun is setting. It was amazing to watch...I'm filled with gratitude having been there to witness.

WINTER SOLSTICE THIS WEEK: Note on the full disk satellite image this morning the terminator (the line separating daylight from darkness) is tilted at around 23 degrees. This means we are very close to the winter solstice; it comes Thursday night at 9:27 CT.

After Thursday, we will slowly begin to see increasing amounts of daylight over the northern hemisphere. We have already seen our earliest sunset time of the year.

Caught a meteor during tonight's meteor shower, going across the left side of the aurora. Have always wanted to get a meteor and aurora in the same shot, bingo!! New Auburn, Wisconsin.
