Something to think about this April 9. If the U.S. had lost, there would be an international border north & south. The split might have encouraged border countries to usurp other sections of the Continental U.S., as shown in this 1864 map.
The divided, not united states.

Army Chief of Staff Gen. George C. Marshall being fingerprinted by Private William Burkey in 1941 at the War Department.
(Pre-Pearl Harbor, so most soldiers wore civilian clothes.)
Even Marshall had to stand in line.

Good morning, @LlamaMountainStudioArts
My son picked up all the branches in the yard and I now have a large kindling pile. We are passed the woodstove season, I think. Never know though.

Good morning!
Clouds today with showers later. We won't see much sun until Saturday.
It's 46 F with a high of 77 F, rather warm for early April.
Working from home today as there is a large conference on campus and normally OK parking is now nopenope parking.
Be kind today.
Your weather from the ancient VA Blue Ridge.

Happy eclipse day!
It's mostly clear and 42 F this morning heading for a high of 74 F. Clouds will thicken with rain showers predicted this afternoon, which will impede our 88% view of the eclipse very unfortunately.
So, that's the weather and the sad eclipse news from the ancient VA Blue Ridge.
Be kind out there.

Good people of CoSo?

This is just a loving reminder that your brains have not evolved to cope with the stimuli of online environments.

It does you no good to be immersed in images of destruction or harm, particularly if you are not in a position to help.

Stay informed, but take breaks. Look at the sky. Attend to local concerns where you CAN make a difference.

It doesnโ€™t help the world or you if you are chronically destabilized by online content.

@Madken65
Some things never change. Teachers have always been under valued & underpaid. Never get paid for grading papers & prep time they do at home every night.lts pathetic. If they didnt do it theyd be fired. Who needs that? Aparently people who love children & likรจn sharing knowledge with them.

This week, I received a box of awards given to for her codebreaking work. Included in the box was this lovely album of baby photos of William and Elizebeth's daughter, Barbara. I love new photos!

I was notified by a CoSo friend that the attachment on the Louisiana House Bill 777 that criminalizes librarians for joining the American Library Association didn't work. I've converted it to an image.
Raise a hue and cry! Librarians doing their jobs and belonging to their national organization are NOT CRIMINALS.

Good Friday morning, 'nauts!
It's 34 F this morning, and will be breezy with a high of 55 F with a good amount of sun.
Opening day of Salem Red Sox , and I will be in the front row with my feet up on the first base dugout, scorebook in my lap! It will feel like 45 F when the game begins at 7 and near freezing by the end, so I will be the fan wrapped in a sleeping bag.
That's your weather for the last day of my work week from the ancient Blue Ridge of VA.
Let's make it a kind day!
