ON this date in 1949 - "The Lone Ranger" premiered on ABC.

Clayton Moore was the Lone Ranger and Jay Silverheels was Tonto...

Bun Man and Mr. Purple actually auditioned for the part and were seen as the faves until Mr. Purple dropped one of the dimes to keep the mechanical horse running outside the grocery store and the Show's producers caught on to the charade...

Took a long time for Bun to get over that one.

Lots of people pass away too early. Without a reason.

When we look at the sky, we like the thought that they look back at us.

We remember them often, in the morning, in the night, when we look at the stars, a date, a song, a place, a smell.

In memory of those who left us way too soon for heaven ♥

Many in the crowd would later say that's what the band sounded like...

But the Beatles loved them, and they opened for the Fab Four the entire North American tour.

SUPER HEADS IN TIME

ON this date in 1964 - The Beatles were ordered off the stage at Cleveland's Public auditorium so the screaming crowd could calm down.

The Opening Act, Bun Man and Mr. Purple's Super Heads in Time were brought back on stage and the crowd quickly calmed down.

Bun, the drummer, had his bands initials (S-H-I-T) emblazoned on his bass drum.

ON this date in 1903 - Country singer Roy Acuff was born.

He was the first living artist to be elected to the Country Music Hall of Fame.

Roy and the Smoky Mountain Boys beat out Bun Man and Mr. Purple, members of the Foggy Bottom Boyz, by one month to be the first artist.

The Boyz were still on the lam for many years after the HOF entry, so they didn't realize this shunning until much later.

Probably all well and good; it would have turned ugly at the Grand Ol' Opry!

ON this date in 1994 - U.S. President Clinton told Haiti's military leaders "Your time is up. Leave now or we will force you from power."

Clinton Advisors, Bun Man and Mr. Purple, came upon the idea for the phrase after hearing Republicans repeatedly call for Clinton's removal.

The Boyz, very subtly, realized they could actually put 'teeth' into the phrase because they had America's military to back them...

Alas, their efforts failed them, and they instructed husbands to engage in selective listening as their only defense.

In most states, selective listening works...

ON this date in 1915 - Carl G. Muench received a patent for Insulit, the first sound-absorbing material to be used in buildings.

Lab assistants Bun Man and Mr. Purple continued working on Insulit refinement as they and Muench were convinced they could do something to help husbands get further insulated from their wives' EAR-PIERCING SCREAMS OCCURRING WAY TOO FREQUENTLY.

ON this date in 2010 - George Michael was sentenced to eight weeks in jail after he plead guilty to driving under the influence and drug possession.

The incident occurred on July 4 when Michael's crashed his car into a store.

Turns out, George, who was a little light in the slippers, had seen Bun Man and Mr. Purple on that fateful day and just couldn't contain himself.

The Boyz were terribly unsettled by this; they knew what they did to women, but this was a first by a slippers dude...

ON this date in 1995 - Earth, Wind and Fire received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Bun Man, Mr. Purple and I trekked to LA for the event as the Boyz and I always had a fond place in our hearts for EW&F.

Bun used to say "If it hadn't been for Earth, Wind and Fire, you could halve the number of ladies I enjoyed..."

Bun and Mr. Purple had some incredible lines, but when they went for the close, EW&F went on the turntable...
