ON this date in 1966 - Neil Young, Stephen Stills and Richie Furay formed Buffalo Springfield.

Percussionists Bun Man and Mr. Purple were all set to join the group but a fall out over whether the band would wear Beatles Suits or 'just be themselves' ensued and the Boyz moved on; later joining Santana.

Buffalo Springfield would be the springboard for Poco; Loggins and Messina; CSN; CSN&Y; Manassas; Souther-Hillman-Furay Band; and the Eagles.

What a legacy...

Some Peeps still seem to be whistling 'Dixie'...

ON this date in 1931 - The "Star Spangled Banner," written by Francis Scott Key, was adopted as the American national anthem.

The song was originally a poem known as "Defense of Fort McHenry."

It would be years before this song would stick w/ Virginian-born 'Johnny Rebs' Bun Man and Mr. Purple, they had been whistling Dixie for quite some time...

ON this date in 1910 - J.D. Rockefeller Jr. announced his withdrawal from business to administer his father's fortune for an "uplift in humanity".

He also appealed to the U.S. Congress for the creation of the Rockefeller Foundation. Bun Man told me he remembered this announcement as it was such a 'touching' time for Americans.

Americans could see how some of the Rich could provide for them too.

Mr. Purple just now said "Hey, we could use some of that benevolence now..."

My wife is threatening to leave me because of my obsession with wearing different clothes every half hour.

I said, “Wait, I can change.”

Homage to @peemee

A friend's wife asked him “is it just me or is the cat getting fat?”

Apparently “no, it’s just you” was not the right answer.

The USA in the Middle East

I've supported WAR on both sides now, and still somehow it's WAR'S illusions I recall...Humans don't really do WAR well at all.

Historybook: Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Jones born (1919); Former Soviet Union President Mikhail Gorbachev born (1931); Wilt Chamberlain sets all-time NBA record with 100 points in a single game (1962); English actor Daniel Craig born (1968).

"Everything is habit-forming, so make sure what you do is what you want to be doing."

- Wilt Chamberlain

It is truly ironic the US GOP is able to run on government spending when they opened up the back door to corporate plunder.

“In the context of higher interest rates, without effective fiscal policy measures to reduce government spending or increase revenues,” the agency said. “Moody’s expects that the US’ fiscal deficits will remain very large, significantly weakening debt affordability.”

ON this date in 1897 - After Senators Bun Man and Mr. Purple championed legislation to ensure there was a literate voting public, U.S. President Cleveland vetoed legislation that would have required a literacy test for immigrants entering the country.

Astute as always, Cleveland realized an illiterate public was always better for a career politician; how else would politicians be able to state what they believe in, then immediately change their judgment upon election to office?

ON this date in 1975 - Linda McCartney was arrested for personal possession of marijuana.

Paul was driving the vehicle at the time of the incident but was not charged.

There were reports she 'finked out' her suppliers Bun Man and Mr. Purple, but lab tests confirmed it was not linked to the Boyz.

When the results came back from the lab and the pot 'quality' was not primo, everyone knew it couldn't have come from the Boyz.

They only stock primo...but then, that was 1975.

HOW LONG, HAS THIS BEEN GOIN' ON?

ON this date in 1995 - Russian anti-corruption journalist Vladislav Listyev was killed by a gunman in Moscow.

Reading this, Bun Man just turned to me and said "Didn't we just have something similar the other day?"

I replied in the affirmative.

Mr. Purple suggested "Kinda gives you a better appreciation for American Democracy, doesn't it?"

Just a Reminder for Those in the Back or that guy over there behind that pole...

We didn't pass the last test.

I met a Free Market Capitalist the other day, he leaned left, then leaned right, until corrected by a lobbyist...

Treasure the love we have, we should treasure the life we live...

Ken-Dogger: Bailey, c'mon, what are you doing up there?
Bailey: Dude, just hangin' out...
KD: But you're on one of mommy's nice decorative bowls.
B: Dogger, I'm hip, it's about reverence...
KD: Reverence?
B: I've seen how you handle that bowl, you are gentle and careful and soft with it
KD: Well, it's a treasured piece
B: Hence, my reverence comment...I'm treasured too
KD: Yes, you are buddy...
