So perhaps it’s true that you can take the girl out of Singapore, but you can never take Singapore out of the girl. The foundation of my native country was built with an emphasis on placing family above self, society above family, country above society and so forth. I may have rebelled against this before, but in these times, I am increasingly convinced that even a dollop of this ethos is going to be what ends up saving us all.

How Singapore has responded...Quarantine and contact tracking

Citizens, for example, recently have been encouraged to download a new contact tracing app that uses wireless Bluetooth technology to constantly identify and log the phones and people near you. The idea is that this would help identify people who have been within two meters of coronavirus patients for at least 30 minutes.

I have found myself vociferously defending and explaining my country’s draconian quarantine strategy.

We can draw on our current experience to make a wide array of the procedural and technical changes. However, until one party and its base decide that living in the 21st century without respect for 21st-century science is suicidal, we will face one calamity after another and continue to be at the whim of know-nothing leaders.

Getting thru this...

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) remarked recently:
You will get knocked on your rear end. You will deal with pain. You will deal with death. You will deal with setback. You will deal with suffering. The question is, how do you get up? First, do you get up? And second, if you get up, how do you get up? Do you get up smarter? Do you get up wiser? Or do you get up bitter, and do you get up angry? And do you get up fearful? We are in control of that.

Part of Delaware's response to COVID-19 spread...

We're a Blue State, save for the county where @MrsE0113 and I live which is one of the Reddest counties east of the Mississippi River.

But our Governor gets it...We're in this together

But this goes far beyond physical ailments. There must be a collective understanding that social ills, economic challenges and, of course, the looming environmental disaster, belong to us all. For better or worse, they are a part of who we are; and we are a part of them.

The lesson many people still need to learn is that disease is something that afflicts the human body — not the Chinese body, the African body, or the Western body. The moment a disease is regionalized, humanity is erased in a dishonest and dangerous attempt to reduce one another to a nationality.

It is detrimental to the well-being of everyone to pretend that a virus is African or Chinese or American or French.

The xenophobia has just moved to Asia...

That point was made painfully clear when, rather than taking the opportunity to unite and embrace a rising spirit of generosity and togetherness emanating around the globe, the president of the United States made a choice to sow division, publicly labeling Covid-19 the “Chinese virus” or “Wuhan virus.”

IMO, even in this Pandemic War, America seems hellbent to retain it's title of being The World's Killing Machine...We love poking bears, we just don't like finishing the fight.

This action is vital to protecting doctors and nurses on the front lines of this crisis.
Other states should follow New York’s example with dispatch.

These are hard choices. No one wants to make them, but the pandemic is forcing our hand. In the current crisis, the health of all Americans, including our doctors and nurses, is at stake.

When the President says "There is going to be a lot of death.", well then you immunize medical personal from lawsuits...The Country failed them in pursuit of their ideals

On Friday, Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed legislation immunizing health care providers for medical decisions they make in the course of providing care to victims of the pandemic during the duration of the emergency that he declared on March 7.

Why is there still so much traffic on the road? Drop has been in work trips, not non-work trips...

Other traffic includes the surge in restaurant deliveries and takeout pickups, experts say, as well as people driving to parks for outdoor walking breaks. And the car itself provides a socially distanced reprieve from being homebound.

Morning Nauts

Ken-Dogger: Hey guys, what are you studying?

Dusty: We’re looking up supply chains.

Rusty: Yes Bro, It’s critical they stay open.

Lusty: So we’re trying to understand the system.

KD: Look up capitalism then…

D: I did find this, for what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?

R: There’s profit in this?

KD: Yes, but you pay with your soul.

L: For some, that was the easiest cost.

He is MOMENT MAN...

The novel coronavirus has decimated the ECONOMY... But in Trump’s White House, certain symptoms remain: a president who governs as if producing and starring in a reality television show, with each day a new episode and each news cycle his own creation, a successive installment to be conquered.

2 months ago this dude was a fundraiser for Republican campaigns. Now this LLC which just filed to incorporate in March claims to be the largest global supplier of PPE, masks and ventilators. He won't answer where his supplies are coming from other than "relationships". This is our National Stockpile and orders seized from states and allies. This is who Jared meant when he said it's not for the states it's for us. Maybe this is why the IG had to go last night?
