What is tragically surprising to me in this instantaneous age is that some punk band hasn't already started calling itself COVUD-19...

Paul Waldman, supporting Sanders, but with some pragmatism...

Again, I’m certain Sanders understands all this, even as his candidacy is promoted by superfans who have convinced themselves that even the barest hint of compromise from Sanders’s maximalist positions is tantamount to treason. I doubt they’re going to cast Ocasio-Cortez out for speaking the truth, but it might make them consider whether they’ve been a little too doctrinaire.

David Von Drehle with his perspective on where Dems are...

Suppose no one wins a first-ballot majority in Milwaukee. Chaos. The rules say that every delegate becomes a free agent, free to choose virtually any U.S. citizen over 35. What’s more, some 770 superdelegates (yes, them again) are added to the mix.

or maybe even more compelling now that I think about and after my vanilla almond crunch cereal,

what about

Klobuchar - Booker ticket

Would allow Franken to run again in Minnesota, and NJ would remain Dem with Senate too, most likely, wins all around

Damn, I'm just chock full of insights this morning rofl

Saturday morning wild idea...

Full Disclosure: I'm ABT for the election

I could definitely support an Amy Klobuchar - Michael Bennett ticket for the Dems

Hear me out...Amy doesn't scare the hell out of either side of the party, She's a Midwesterner (critical area to capture in November), she's moderately progressive and she has proven track record, Bennett has been elected more than once in a split state (CO) and he has not proven to be a liability thus far...

Just thinking out loud

In a worst-case scenario, it’s another version of what I like to call “fantasy politics for Democratic moderates.” It’s not just that Democrats are selling their soul if Mike Bloomberg is the nominee. It’s that they could be selling it for naught.

Helaine Olen in WaPo highlighting Bloomberg shortcomings...

None of this is to say I wouldn’t vote for Bloomberg if he’s the nominee. But people like me, who consider Trump a unique threat to American democracy, are not who Democrats need to reach. The idea that a battle royale between two cantankerous billionaires with a host of problematic beliefs will engage less-connected voters is likely more chancy than many want to admit.

The killers who took Jamal’s life also interrupted and usurped mine.
The world didn’t remain silent, but the condemnation was not enough to punish the true murderers.

Carrying the torch after losing a loved one...

On Oct. 2, 2018, confused and devastated, I waited for the world to react. But this year I’m pushing beyond my own sadness, still trying to understand the dark and deplorable age we are living in right now. Because that day, inside and near the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul, we were both assassinated.

“I’d like my work desk to be close to where you’ll be most of the time," he would say, "so that I can gaze at you as I write my articles.”

What an incredibly loving sentence...from Jamal K to Hatice C.

Nearly eight in 10 Americans say they want federal legislation to protect patients against surprise bills.

Good read from Elisabeth Rosenthal in NYT on surprise medical billing and the efforts to correct this practice...

So, nothing has changed at the federal level, even though it’s hard to imagine another issue for which there is such widespread consensus. Two-thirds of Americans say they are worried about being able to afford an unexpected medical bill — more than any other household expense.

George Will citing the Senate for not even following their own rules on trade policy...

The president’s institutional vandalism is partially explained, although not excused, by the breadth and depth of his ignorance concerning the manners and mores of a republic. The Senate’s self-degradation is even more depressing.
