In English, one "pulls a [NAME]" if they do something another person is known to do.

In Spanish, one "does a [NAME as an adjective]", "hacer un [NAME]-ado/-eado".

If someone has "pulled a [YOUR NAME]", what would they have had to have done? ๐Ÿ‘€

@MLClark
So... Spanish would be literally translated as "Does a Name-y" or "Makes a Name-y"? ๐Ÿค”

Hm, I kind of like that!

Pulls a Me...

Oh, I don't know. Something stupid and forgetful, probably. It's usually not anything good, when people say that! "Plans a vacation down to the last detail she'll never be able to afford and then realizes people were taking her seriously" maybe? "Gets too excited about a decrepit old house." <<< That one, definitely! ๐Ÿ˜‚

@janallmac

!!! I love that second one! Now I need to find an excuse to use it... :)

@MLClark
It's funny, though, because in English (if we're translating directly... which maybe we are, maybe we aren't? I don't know! ๐Ÿ˜‚ )

"Makes a name for themselves" means something totally different!

@MLClark If you've ever forgotten how the melody or guitar part of a song you wrote (years ago) goes, only to discover that you lost the recording, you've pulled a Stuey! ๐Ÿคฃ

I deleted facebook and later discovered that the only record of a song I really liked called "Insomnia" was gone too!

@stueytheround

Nooooooooo! I've done that with writing across a few forums, alack. What a pity.

@stueytheround @MLClark ohhh noooo that was the MySpace purge for me. I had 3 band profiles, and each one of them had song files that I uploaded and somehow lost everywhere else. And then Myspace has this gigantic Purge where every single artist's music gets taken off the platform. ๐Ÿ˜ฉ

@MLClark

Lost their phone. It happens all the time. I leave it in the oddest places. Once I was phoneless all day despite going through all bags and pockets, scanning all surfaces, searching the car, etc. Battery dead of course. That night I went to bed resigned to the loss only to discover that I had made the bed that morning with my phone under the pillow and between the sheets. ๐Ÿคท

@LiseL

๐Ÿ˜… You tucked it in!

Let this be a lesson against doing chores, I suppose. ๐Ÿ˜‰

@MLClark

I did!

It was in a cupboard with the cereal once. I don't do this with other objects, like keys. I think it's most likely because I don't want anyone calling me. ๐Ÿ˜‚

@LiseL

๐Ÿ˜ฌ Who are these monsters *calling* you in the 2020s?!

@MLClark
If someone changed their walking route to avoid even the friendliest of small talk, they've pulled a Tome.

@Armchaircouch

๐Ÿ˜… Y'know, it occurred to me the other day that I've been "pulling a me" for years.

When my high school friends and I got in underage at a bar and I had my first "alcohol makes you sad" moment, I was agonizing over the same things I do now: why can't I stop fixating on my own problems when the world is filled with more important crises?

So I think mine would be "feeling ashamed at having personal problems and setbacks amid global catastrophe".

๐Ÿ™ƒ Don't do it. Don't pull an ML.

@Armchaircouch

The decrepit house one that another lovely human here has is rad, though! Do that! ๐Ÿ˜Š

โ™ฅ๏ธ I think, that our body tells us things that are true to our heart, and our mind makes sense of it the best it can, so please, donโ€™t discount your heart. After all, itโ€™s connected to all the rest of us, and the better off you are in your own temple, the better you can be with what you are connected to outside of it.
โ™ฅ๏ธ Let it out! :) @MLClark
