There will come a day when strangers don't lecture me for not having children. Today was not that day. ๐
#MindingYourOwnBusinessIsFree
@MLClark how dare you make decisions that support your own beliefs. the audacity.
/endsarcasm
as a mom, no one should ever have kids if they don't want them. end of story. not my business how others lead their lives!
@MLClark I point at THEIR kids, which are usually crying, running around, grabbing things, bumping into people, fighting and screaming and say, "THAT'S WHY."
@MLClark I get that sometimes at work. It's usually some older folks who ask if I have kids, I say no, I have cats instead. They seem very disappointed with that and say I should have at least 2 children, and i then proceed to stifle a laugh.
@MLClark A mind your own business moment, coupled with an icy โnon-smileโ and a Good Bye would be my reaction. (even though I have kids, I would not imply that anyone should have kids- personal and private choice, imho!).
Hope the rest of your Thursday goes well! ๐ปโ๏ธ
I love all my friends who parent. It fills me with great joy and healing to know that so many children are in such wonderful hands: not among perfect beings! But among beings honest about imperfection, and committed to building safe foundations for growth.
It takes all (wonderful!) sorts in this world. ๐ค Thanks for providing yours with a loving home. ๐
@MLClark ๐ก
@MLClark On an emotional level, I don't understand why people do this and it makes me sad. On a sociological level, I understand why people do this and it makes me even sadder.
Agreed. Who said knowledge was power? ๐ Did... did they ever have to *live* with knowledge?
@MLClark Knowledge is the power to know that ignorance is bliss?
@JakeA Hot dog yes, that is just about perfect. :)
How are you, Jake? Getting a good work/life/writing/shouting-into-the-void balance in these days?
@MLClark Oh, things are going! I'm getting close to finishing a story that's been close to my heart for a while, definitely in spite of my work schedule. (Though at this point I mainly have Zelda to blame!)
Also reading this pretty cool book about, like, a starship AI??? I'm absolutely loving it, by the way. ๐
I saw your post on Twitter! That was super kind of you, thank you. ๐ค I think you're in the reader group that hasn't read TBK, right? Or maybe you have! @Apocryphiliac has, and another person I know currently reading CoD has been delighted to recognize references, but if you're in the other group, then I'm even more thrilled to know that the dialogue *works* and is so engaging for you too. ๐ค Thank you so much for supporting the piece!
@MLClark @Apocryphiliac Yeah I haven't read it yet, but you've certainly put it on my to-read list. I can sense the references and it has me eager to reread. Happy to report that I'm loving the Trek references.
What a-holes.
@MLClark have you ever encountered World Childless Week seminars?
