@LiberalLibrarian I've seen it. Not up to its reputation IMO, but not terrible either. Some fine moments of acting by Hanks.

@LiberalLibrarian I still have people respond with horror when I say I have not see the film, and then try to convince me they need to "fix" that.
I used to try to politely decline, but I've found it saves time to just say "I would rather stick a fork in my ear than watch Forrest Gump."

It's a social comment on the politics of a competely different era that most people under the age of 40 won't grok, and no one under 20. It's okay that young people don't watch it. They don't have the life experience to relate. It's not for them.
