In past elections, the differences between right and left were often minor and even confusing.

The right has a real problem in thinking that their beliefs and practices are so perfect that everyone else should believe and do what they do. Sadly, I also encounter this with progressives, too. It’s hard to accept that what works well in your life might not work for others. That’s why I’m usually reluctant to give advice. But the right to choose what’s best for us is a fundamental aspect of democracy and the one the right is fighting hard to eliminate.

The Trumpublicans are fighting to keep kids from learning the truth about American history because they are ashamed of it. They know what we were taught about “all men are created equal” and all those other clichés are BS, in their hearts they’re ashamed, and since they don’t believe in apologizing for anything, they deflect and deny. We will never improve this nation if we ignore its deficiencies and pretend like nothing’s wrong.

There's a reason that the oath we took when entering military service, the same oath taken by every member of Congress, includes, "I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic...". We foresaw the concept of domestic terrorists. The coming days will test our allegiance to that oath.
It may be time to consider renewing the Ironclad Oath for members of Congress.
