When I met my last girlfriend she was dating a musician in a punk band in San Diego. On our first date I played this for her and it became one of "our songs".

Tom Waits is an interesting artist. He was born in Whittier, CA, home of Richard Nixon, but he got his start in San Diego, my home town. The first album of his I bought was the 2nd he released in 1974 just before I went into the Army. Titled "The Heart of Saturday Night", it's more melodic and his voice less gravelly than it would become. I have two songs I really like on it:
San Diego Serenade

You know how a songwriter produces a song that someone else makes famous? It happens all the time. And sometimes the songwriter becomes well-known and people can't believe they wrote that song. Case in point:

To prove it, here's one I've shared here before. Dedicated to @th3j35t3r, from the Works 1 album, Emerson, Lake and Palmer performing Pirates.

I favor long, symphonic rock songs, so here's my favorite Supertramp tune from 2014. The album, Even in the Quietest Moments, the song, Fool's Overture.

Every time I hear this song I think of my best friend for over 40 years who died 2 years ago.
