Will we ever be able to celebrate our independence from war, from hate, from racial and gender inequality, from tyranny, from greed in pursuit of profit, from mass murders, from persecution, from fear, from alienation, from false morality, from corruption in government?
@Jeber Maybe never
@Jeber: No, because that would require human nature to change in every last human not only currently but forever forward, and I don't believe that's a thing that's in the cards. Emotions will always exist, and as such all those things lamented will be with our species, along with their opposites, those things about that pretty routinely get forgotten or at least overlooked on the daily.
no mud, no lotus flowers.
it's all in the personal task, it seems.
as Camus says: we must imagine Sisyphus happy.
@thedisasterautist
Being a nihilist, I agree. So many of the things that impede human progress like religion, capitalism, fascism, require an evolution in human awareness and understanding that I don’t believe will occur before we wipe ourselves out, either slowly by environmental destruction or nuclear aggression.
@Jeber
I've been researching a theme of hope for a church project recently. They seem appropriate this morning.
