Good morning! Coffee brewing.
Enjoying the morning "coolness" b4 it starts to melt the tarmac again. Off around the 'hood to inventory the chickens and cats.

I'll leave you with a positive note.
Dear US America, the kids are alright.

@FireMonkey That said, *imagine* the result if 70% of younger voters voted.
There would never be a GOP government again. 😁

@stueytheround

And if the New American Majority that has been so disenfranchised they just don't register, let alone vote, we're to be so inspired, we'd have the goddang flying cars we were promised. 😉🤣

@FireMonkey @stueytheround

It couldn't be more clear, there IS a way out of this...

It's called VOTING

Will grant you now, there are issues with VOTING

But our only legitimate recourse is via VOTING

@Madken65 @stueytheround
And if we are able to take a strong majority it is imperative that we change election laws (eliminate electoral college, implement the John Lewis Voting Rights Act, overturn Citizens -United decision to eliminate money in politics), increase SCOTUS to 13, choose ranked choice voting wherever possible...then flying fscking cars!

We're going to need a more progressive and aggressive president than Uncle Joe to accomplish all that. As much as I like and admire him, Biden needs to be a one-term president. Then a younger and more dynamic Democrat needs to take over the reigns.

@Jeber @FireMonkey @stueytheround

I think Uncle Joe would support that also...

Trouble is, who is waiting in the wings?

Right now, who is the Young, Vibrant New Leader of the DEMS?

I don't think I can answer that...

We are going to need bridges to build back better and I can't put my finger on who that 'BRIDGE PERSON' is going to be

@Jeber @FireMonkey @stueytheround

The TRAGEDY of today's USA is we have taken perhaps the most decent man in the country, and Joe Biden truly is a very decent man, and turned him into a PARIAH.

We all need to take responsibility for that one.

@Madken65 @FireMonkey @stueytheround
If we weren't such a bigoted country I could see Pete Buttigieg as president. Intelligent, articulate, and a veteran. None of which counts against him. But being gay? That makes him unelectable on the national stage. The only thing worse would be if he came out as an atheist.

@Jeber
Are Dem voters still so concerned about that?
Were he to stand on a platform of equal rights for all, might he overcome the homophobes winning more votes from women and all minorities?
Could he get out the young vote based on such principles alongside a solid financial policy?

@Madken65 @FireMonkey

@stueytheround @Jeber @Madken65
Dem voters aren't the problem Stuey, it's that huge ocean of unaffiliated and unregistered - the disaffected that hold the key and don't know it. As well as the 30% of GQP and evangelical Ameritaliban dependable voters that have poisoned our democracy.

@FireMonkey
But if you have this crazy big majority at the top of the thread, those things *don't matter*. You don't need to appeal to those people.

Not so long ago, it seemed impossible that the USA would elect a black president, but Obama and his supporters got the vote out and won!

@Jeber @Madken65

@stueytheround
Well, that's my hope.
But if we could get the others to vote also, we'd have those Jetson flying cars. 😂

@Jeber @Madken65

@FireMonkey @stueytheround @Jeber

IMO, and I think election results back this, the successful candidate will be the one who gets the most crossover votes from States who have evidenced prior crossover votes...Looking at you Colorado, Ohio, Nevada, and California

@Jeber @Madken65 @stueytheround
Colorado has Governor Jared Polis, a gay man who married his husband in office. Jared is more than wealthy, he founded ProFlowers. And ran as a Dem but he has more than a little bit of libertarian in him. He has been a good governor, and I could picture him running for president. Though he's given no clues that that's his goal.

@Jeber @Madken65 @stueytheround

I concur, but in discussions with my political friends we're having a hard time identifying just who that might be.

As for me I will remain a Bernie DieHard. Newsome is making some interesting motions. I have a hard time coming up with any others who might stand a chance of running the gauntlet.

@FireMonkey
The trouble with Bernie now, is that while he is much more progressive, he is also part of the old-guard.
As @Jeber implied, there needs to be a generational shift in politics, worldwide.

@Madken65

@stueytheround @Jeber @Madken65
Yeah I guess my 2024 ticket would be a transitional Bernie / Newsome ticket.

But that's more than two years away - we need THIS election to go off well or we won't have anymore, that matter anyway.
