@spacesloth gods but I wish that was true. I remember young folks like me thinking the same thing in the 1960s. Now too many of us are the people who are repeating the problem. I hope you have better results. If not, there may not be a future.

@CinnamonGirlE feel better soon. Life seems to be a series of bad backs, broken toes, and hammered fingers. Stay in and take care of yourself. Enjoy the day as much as possible. Okay?

Some of my friends are all upset, because women in the Missouri House of representatives have to cover their arms under the new rules. So I went and looked up with the men have to wear in the House of Representatives in Missouri. Suits and ties.

So I said hey I looked it up and the men all I have to wear suits and ties so gals can dress the same.

This is what I sometimes dislike about the media. And the women that are bitching about it need to get an attitude adjustment.

@Bald_Guy_With_Bike Politicians are independent contractors. Betcha didn't know that. It's why they can get positions other people can't because of problems on their applications (i.e. lies) Makes me crazy, but the fact is that voters don't pay enough attention to who runs for office.

Voters have to start paying more attention.

@DerickInTX I'm presently in TX and it sucks. That said, I'm not a non-theist. Just a run of the mill Druid who stays in her own lane.

@MindfulWilliam He threw out a 25-year-old sourdough starter????? OMG.

Like line from Adventures in Babysitting: Dead. Murdered. Stabbed.

Has anyone here ever used Reedsy Discovery to get reviews one could use on a website or in other venues?

I just learned about this.

Obviously, not Amazon unless they went there directly.

@Cosmichomicide I moderate a writing group at our library. They also have a room they call the MakerSpace room, where people can do all kinds of arts and crafts.

They have a great big computer lab where people can do everything from accessing email to working on documents and printing them out for things that they need.

The library is a very active place. I couldn’t walk back-and-forth to the library if my life depended on it because well there’s no way to do that here.

My dog got me up at 5 o’clock this morning. We usually get up around seven so that she can take her walk when the sun rises. We were walking and using a flashlight today.

I hope that coffee makes everything OKer.

This is what I get for going to bed early last night.

@kel I believe that it took 133 votes one time to get a speaker. I don’t remember what year that was. It was a long time ago.

I don't consider this politics, but some would, so I'm tagging it.

There's been a major document release I found out about on Politico, which I recommend reading for an overview. politico.com/news/2023/01/02/j

I've been waiting for material like this to do my own deep dive.

They didn't give the database where all this is, but I found this one in the event anyone is interested. I'm going to devote an hour a day to this.

I find AI image generation fascinating. From the prompt word: X. Unfortunately, I’m not allowed to give it no information and see what it comes up with.

A very good, thoughtful article going over various profound thoughts on when life begins. Science. Culture. Theology.

Free link.

@danielbsmith

She sent for more books for me to read full of paranoid rantings. 😂

I explained that I don't sit and read things like this all day long. I am a writer and I'm busy.

Also told her that it may take me months to outline the first book of conspiracy theories.

Finished with: I look for fact based information. As as a retired lawyer I needed facts and figures, not wild speculation with no verification.

We live in different worlds.

A Buddhist friend of mine shared this cartoon about opportunities.

My response: And what we make of them is up to us.

Best wishes for 2023.

@Floki_ I use a hashtag for politics. Can you block that out?

Mostly, I try to post about other things. Sometimes I post about Law with some people think is politics, but isn’t actually.

Sorry you’re over whelmed by all the political posts here. I know that a lot of us feel the same way when people go crazy about sports and refuse to use hashtags.

Right now on Facebook I’m dealing with someone who is having a tantrum on my
New years post. 🤷‍♀️

Not long ago I read an article about how koala bears can't recognize a eucalyptus leaf that's been removed from the branch. It's because their brains are not complex.

I'm beginning to wonder about dogs. Because, smart as they are, mine insists on going in an area where (if I allow it) 95% of the time she'll end up with a painful sticker in the pad of a foot.

And she LOVES Stickerville. Why?

Yes, I got the sticker out. She's fine. Now MY finger hurts.

🐕 🤕

@CinnamonGirlE I rarely buy a ticket. However, IF I won my first stop would be the estate attorney who would put into place all the things I'd need.

I'm a huge fan of pour-over trusts. Once the $$ came in it would pour over into various trusts. My accountant would supervise investment accounts as I trust her with my life.

I've never lusted after THINGS. I hate crowds and noise. Don't even own a TV. I would quietly relocate.
