@JanGoesWriting

I write low fantasy (UF) with some high fantasy. It's a combination of very heavy story lines with enough humor to leaven the story for my target audience.

I write magnets that mostly show the funny side of the situation. For every two I write that explore the funny insanity she lives with there's one that is heavier.

I think you can do this easily. because life isn't always a downer—unless your readers want trauma/drama constantly

Finally happened that someone opened a specialty server on mastodon that I'm interested in. Intensive Druid studies.

He's licensed clergy a few hours away from me. I may have to get one of those tools for following multiple sites since I'm interested in what he has to offer re: depth analysis of the old gods. He's got me beat in that he speaks and reads Irish. I have to read translations of the old materials.

Good night CoSoNauts keep on tooting. 😀

@Darkenyght1701 The brightest dogs know about 250 words. They're herding breeds.

Kinley knows the standard including "drop it." Usually I communicate with her using large body movements, but she's starting to lose her vision.

I prefer to train using voice and hand commands so if the dog is off the leash I can still control the behavior.

She knows "ride" but it's always associated with a behavior that includes a leash and her car vest/seatbelt and a large motion. Probably a package deal.

Another long day. So many questions from ARC readers. I spent most of the day sorting out who needed what type of epub. A couple of them simply had to have PDFs so I had to recompile to include a print version. Had to help several figure out how to email the epub to their e-reader.

After a day that started with the coffee maker dying, that should have been a clue, right?

Stick a coffee stirrer in me. I'm done.

Keep on writing!

@JohnnyGenX How do you plan to tell a federal judge how to do his job?

It's not at all uncommon for a judge (local/state/federal) to tell opposing parties to work it out.

It's just that you don't hear about it in the news. Happens every day in all kinds of courts.

Note that the claim against turning materials over has been dropped.

Also note that NONE of his attorneys are wiling to be the custodian of the records. Mafia dons have custodians of the records.

@Darkenyght1701 My little gal is 17, which is quite old for a dog. But she could live to 20 or 21. Some small breeds live a long time.

Our pets are a bundle of reflexes (think laser on the wall for your cat) and we often misinterpret them because we consider them human.

Mine figured out I can't hear well so she's made herself the guardian of the door, the walkway, and also tells me when I forget the microwave is beeping. It's a survival thing - I survive, she survives.

@Darkenyght1701 They're all about survival. Hanging her head isn't necessarily what you think as a human. We anthropomorphize a lot.

Dogs and cats are more dependent on smell than sight. They don't have the same vision we do. Cats see primarily in gray with some blue and yellow. Dogs are also colorblind and have about 20/50 vision in human terms.

I worked at a training kennel. We work with the reflexes of the animal and then train the human to give the right clue.

@Darkenyght1701 Insofar as I know, animal psychologists will tell you that your cat and my dog don't understand guilt or misbehavior.

When McKinley gets out I always make it worth her time to come back. I'm all "Look what I have for you!" At her age, this doesn't happen much anymore as she's about 85 in human years.

If you run for office as a member of a political party, then switch parties AFTER you're elected and in office, you should have to pay back every single campaign donation you got under penalty of Bait And Switch Fraud laws.

@Route10 I tend to agree with you about party switchers and resigning, but unfortunately, there's nothing in the Constitution to support it.

@Darkenyght1701 How does that work? Is your refrigerator the gateway to an alternate universe? LOL

Hope you find the cat. My dog comes when calls. I don't know any cats that come when called, only to the sound of a can opener.

@Darkenyght1701 I don't see why almost all of law school can't be done virtually. Except for arguing cases in moot court or doing research on Westlaw/Lexis in the law library most classes can be zoomed.

Yes, it helps to have someone to bounce ideas off while learning, but that's what study groups are for.

Be aware that they aren't going to teach you how to practice law, only how to pass the bar, essentially. Get every internship you can.

Talking to a friend about law school today I flashed on when I was working at a legal clinic as an intern law student.

I was called into court and a judge told me to represent a client. I told him, "I can't do that. I'm a student." He ordered me to represent the client.

I ended up practicing law without a license. The head of the clinic was not amused. I told her I was afraid he'd cite me for contempt if I refused.

The client won, so there was that, I suppose.

Why am I just now getting around to reading “The Truths We Hold” by Kamala Harris? Excellent. Wow. Most are boring and I read them for informational purposes. Hers is vital. Highly recommended. I suppose part of it is the focus on law and my focus on law.

It is unfair the coffee maker died first thing this morning. Uncaffinated, I drove off to buy a new one.

Happy Holidays from the land of plastic snowmen and pots of blooming flowers.

@th3j35t3r considering the hell you get, I feel seriously sorry for this guy.
