@00pi I think at least some of these nominations are the same trick the Smothers Brothers used to play on their TV network censors: they'd throw in half a dozen things they knew the censors wouldn't stand for, thus distracting and exhausting them before they cut out the stuff they really wanted to stay in the show. Pam Bondi raises some eyebrows, but having got rid of Matt Gaetz no one's going to fight about her, not with RFK Jr to block.

@cjcrew @ecksmc This is why we need to vote the whole ballot. These clowns don't start out as Congresscritters, they start as school board members, city council members, county supervisors, state legislators. Every time you vote for one of those you need to ask yourself, do I want this clown in Congress?

@ecksmc I think that’s universal in governments. I tried watching CSPAN a couple times but had to stop. It only raises my blood pressure to hear the dumb ass bullshit they were speaking. These were supposed to be the cream of the crop, the brightest and best our country had to offer yet I watched as a “representative” Drew illustrations to “prove” marijuana as as evil as heroine and cocaine.

They are the dumbest and most ignorant of our nation and they write the laws.

@mcfate That's really remarkable -- 5000 years after we shifted to metal blades, we go back to what's basically artificial obsidian only better.

@mcfate @redenigma Kids, calm down. If someone's post irks you, you know what to do.

Is there a betting pool on Cabinet appointments now? Because I got a hot tip: Agriculture will be headed up by an old guy named MacDonald.

For the LGBTQ that are in dangerous states, I have a pinned list of organizations willing to help in any way they possibly can. Feel free to click my name to check my profile page for the pinned links.

@matuzalem Department of Education, of course. Nobody loves high schoolers more than he does.

@DavidSalo They won't have to figure out that the check's not coming. The GQP will tell them and say it's the Democrats' fault.

@AskTheDevil Never give your enemy what they need. What they want may not be the same; may in fact be the opposite.

If Marsha Blackburn and Rick Scott had a child together, that child would be:

I’m seeing folks fearing the upcoming cost of Christmas. Or just hate to add credit debt to an already stressful time of year.

I found these cups at Habitat ReStore for $1 each. I will make truffles to fill them & pack in holiday cling wrap.

Total cost of gift: $3 each

When I give them, I will suggest they can keep the cup or fill w/treats & pass on. Could be pistachios, carmel corn, teabags, tiny soaps, cookies, red & green M & M etc.

Be creative.

Sexism *and* racism. I know there are a lot of other issues as well, but a future history student's view might be something like this:

2008: Democrats run charismatic Black man and win.
2016: Democrats run white woman and lose.
2020: Democrats run boring old white guy and win.
2024: Democrats run Black woman and ...

Student: Wait, they WHAT?

@b2bjacks I'm more inclined to think Trumpism is just a new offensive in a Civil War that never really ended. The oligarchic faction had to surrender de jure chattel slavery, but quickly adapted to de facto penal slavery, segregation, and vote suppression.
It's shifted from racism to nationalism (out loud, anyway, mostly) as its way of saying that in "all men are created equal" the term "all men" doesn't actually mean "all people" but "all US citizens" or "all US citizens with homes," and so on.

I've been grieving the election since Tuesday night. But last night I remembered the Babylonian captivity and the story of the youths in the fiery furnace (Daniel 3 in the KJV) and have begun to feel a little more stiff-necked. Not exactly more hopeful, but less grief-stricken.

@mcfate It's a coping mechanism. When I got hit by a car while riding my bicycle about 11 years ago, I got tiresome with my explanations of what the driver did wrong. TBF, I've tried to apply them to my own driving, so that's a plus.
We're just not happy unless we find a way for things to make sense. Even if the truth is that there are multiple reasons, some of which contradict each other.
