🤬🤬🤬 Literally a week before the election, Trump's Court lets Virginia block people from voting.
@mcfate "Roll, roll, roll in ze hay...."
@EvilBunny Practice makes perfect.
@mcfate @corlin Are you seriously suggesting that a person who is not allowed to vote gets mad and somehow votes anyway?
In 1998 Florida purged up to 100,000 legitimate Black voters. In 2000, its 4 electoral votes decided the presidential election. "An investigation by the United States Commission on Civil Rights revealed 'an extraordinarily high and inexcusable level of disenfranchisement,' primarily of Democratic African American voters."
--H.C. Richardson, How the South Won the Civil War
@DavidSalo First thought: balderdash. Second thought: Hmm -- born in a Soviet satellite state, speaks several languages, obviously smarter than he is, seems ruthless ... if she wasn't a plant from the beginning, I can't imagine Putin's agencies not trying to turn her, and I can imagine them succeeding.
Congratulations, you sucked me into a conspiracy theory.

Pay No Attention to the People Behind the Curtain
These are the two guys that are behind tribel. The "pro-democracy bird alternative" who claim to "just hit 1 million new users."
The most shocking aspect of this is that fraudulent "political fundraising" for billions has not been shut down, & people still send their money in- to pay for LAWYERS!

@NorthernInvader Neighbor is lucky to have my spouse as a friend. I had to be persuaded. I don't want to be a dick, but neighbor has two houses, one in a pricy part of CA and one here, and both are almost uninhabitable due to their hoarding. Plus they're an antivaxxer. So it takes real persuasion to get my finger off the "Not my problem/God helps those...." button.
Spouse persuaded me to help drape a tarp over an absent neighbor's leaky roof. We're both about threescore and ten, which is Nature's way of saying "stay on the ground, fool." But there turned out to be no way to do it without going into the house and out a 2nd-story window into the roof -- and this neighbor is a hoarder. OMG. Crawling around the wet mossy roof was bad, but navigating the house was worse. If you're a hoarder, get help, you need it.
@TetsuKaba Old news in two ways: it's from 2022, and we all knew long before that he was a fraud.
@sfleetucker You're going to have to get your email address a bank account. This is a sophisticated type of transaction completely beyond the reach of most consumers. Fortunately I have many years of experience in this area and would be glad to assist you for a reasonable fee.
@mcfate It's an iffy question -- every congregation has people who came in once or twice, maybe even got their names on the address list, but never formally joined; people who attend every Sunday service but never formally join; people who joined but haven't been seen or heard from in years. And then there's the Zoom/YouTube contingent....
I'm guessing 100-500, but with many caveats.
And for the record, I'm more of a hard agnostic: not asserting anything about what I think is unknowable.
Rebuilding the Democratic Coalition
"Whatever you think about Joe Biden, the achievements of Bidenomics deserve celebration. The Biden administration bucked economic orthodoxy by boosting household income, which successfully lowered the child poverty rate, including for nonwhite households. And it initiated supply policies to address shortages in the global economy while promoting workers’ rights."

@corlin Would it be too cynical to suspect that the NYT hopes to pick up subscribers from the WaPo exodus, like me? Because it's working.
@TomB I thought the Republicans were supposed to wait till January 5.
@mcfate Eastern Washington was Trump country, too. So he took revenge on his own fans for not being numerous enough to outvote the massive Puget Sound crowd.
You call him Dickless, but I think Heartless and Brainless would apply just as well if not better.
After wildfires burned up a good chunk of eastern Washington state, Dickless refused to provide any disaster relief money because he was mad at Governor Jay Inslee.
Inslee, and the affected people in Washington, had to wait four months for Biden to take office before anything was done.
Grew up in Cupertino before Apple, lived in Berkeley, now retired in South Puget Sound. Pronouns he/him.
