Here's what J shared with those of us are trying to delete the bird account. His cool bonus is it deletes your account and protects your handle from ever being used by someone else.

The rich are killing our planet. Another reason to despise them:

“Pop quiz: how much larger is the carbon footprint of a person in the top one per cent of earners in the US compared to someone in the bottom 50%? The somewhat depressing answer: on average, it’s 1,388 times bigger. This means that, despite being outnumbered by 167 million people, the wealthy are still responsible for 30 times more emissions overall (a total of 269 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent).”

In case folks missed it in a previous post conversation, @CoSoTips has this pic pinned that shares the privacy//security differences b/t social media platforms. Especially helpful for folks now moving from X to BlueSky who are clueless about its security issues compared to CoSo. Thanks to @kel for pointing it out. ❤️🙏❤️

"I am also an old white guy, who has played the game on the easy setting my whole life. Not that it felt easy to me, but that daily life, school, work, love, social interactions, all came with the privilege of being a white male. This is why I pay close attention to the voices of women, people of color, the homeless, the poor. It is their voices and experiences that inform this post."

Okay, just a reminder about how things work

For the next two years, Democrats can’t really do much. So when you see really bad shit happening, that’s NOT because Democrats are being lazy, it’s because people voted for Republicans (if you voted for Republicans, it’s your fault as well.)

I know this is a surprise to many—Republicans now control what bills end up on the calendar, which die in committee, etc.

The BEST WEAPON WE HAVE is:

THE FILIBUSTER.

This is why we didn’t get rid of it.

You can't force the Trump administration to cooperate with fighting global warning.

But if your area has a utility choice that is 100% wind/solar, you can choose it. It may cost more (though depending on the world political situation, sometimes they cost less).

If there is high demand for green energy and low demand for fossil fuels, no one will be investing their money in drill-baby-drill projects. They'll be adding increased capacity for green energy, because that's where the profit will be.

@Y2cake A problem with digital anything is it can be easily corrupted. Then, if you're in a cave, how do you read it?

Hard copies, books, would be best. But who has the time, money, and space to do that?

Digital is a good place to start.

More important now than ever before!!!!!

And if you can, donations are sorely needed!

I agree with this.

"Paradoxically, however, Trump’s reckless venality is a reason for hope. Trump has the soul of a fascist but the mind of a disordered child. He will likely be surrounded by terrible but incompetent people. All of them can be beaten: in court, in Congress, in statehouses around the nation, and in the public arena. America is a federal republic, and the states have ways to protect their citizens from a rogue president." Tom Nichols The Atlantic
