Did a video shoot at a vegan cafe. I am not vegan, though I tend to eat reasonably healthy. What surprised me after previous experiences with vegan food was that everything was very tasty.
@0x56 @GaryPoole I got some vegan cheese from Canada that was amazing, made by "Nuts for Cheese". There are a lot of new cheese companies worth trying. (Forget Daiya!)
@0x56 @GaryPoole I think Daiya was the first to gain a foothold in the chain supermarkets.
I agree, no need to try to imitate everything. But it's hard to do pizza without cheese, though.
@GaryPoole I think I've had a black bean burger once. It was fine.
@GaryPoole If you're even in Denver, stop in at Watercourse. Their food is amazing, they're always busy, and it's all vegan.
When we first went veg, all we could find at restaurants was green salad or dishes with too much salt, too little flavor, and blobs of disgusting tofu.
Things have really changed. Now it's common for mainstream restaurants to have tasty vegan dishes.
@GaryPoole I am curious to try it.
@GaryPoole How fun! I know vegan food is tasty. The only vegan food I am not a big fan of is tempeh. Other than that? Bring it. I wish there was a vegan restaurant closer to me.
I got to sample a black bean burger (which I had never had before), a jack fruit BBQ sandwich, and some vegan nachos.
