It’s not so much the prices that stand out — 70 cents in 1972 is equivalent to $4.81 today — it’s how simple the menu was back then.

Actually, back in the 70's it worked all the time because they had dedicated maintenance crews going in every night to clean and service the "complex" equipment.

They also closed at 10PM nightly in the area I grew up, so the teenagers could go home for school.

In 1965, as newlyweds, broke af we would go down to the Taco Bell by the Redondo Beach pier & get however many tacos, burritos, etc. would fill us up. Everything on the menu was 15¢! Once a week. I couldn't make spaghetti for less than that meal!
And what do you want to bet the ice cream machine was broken back then, too. 😂
