Been playing all rain-themed songs this morning on my show and been getting a lot of calls and message from my listeners who are really getting a kick out of it. 😎 🌧️

For those who are unaware, Southern Tennessee is getting hammered by rain, to the point most of our schools are closed and the ones which aren't have delayed two hours for safety purposes.

It really is amazing how many rain-themed songs there are. 😂

For those that interested, I'll be posting my hourly playlist from this morning of the rain songs once I'm down with my show.

It's been a really fun morning, and all the feedback I've been getting from my listeners is really positive.

Here’s Hour 1:

Blind Melon — No Rain
The Fortunes — Here Comes That Rainy Day Feeling Again
Brook Benton — Rainy Night In Georgia
Bruce Hornsby & The Range — Mandolin Rain

Eddie Rabbit — I Love A Rainy Night

Here’s Hour 2:

Led Zeppelin — The Rain Song
Eric Clapton — Let It Rain
The Weather Girls — It’s Raining Men
Eurythmics — Here Comes The Rain Again
The Beatles — Rain
The Carpenters — Rainy Days & Mondays
Prince — Purple Rain
James Taylor — Fire And Rain
Elvis Presley — Kentucky Rain

Here’s Hour 3:

The Doors — Riders On The Storm
REO Speedwagon — Riding The Storm Out
Supertramp — It’s Raining Again
Albert Hammond — It Never Rains In Southern California
BJ Thomas — Raindrops Keep Fallin’ On My Head
The Cascades — Rhythm Of The Rain

And here’s Hour 4 (updated):

Guns N Roses — November Rain

Bob Dylan — Shelter From The Storm
Bob Dylan — A Hard Rain’s Gonna Fall
Peter Gabriel — Red Rain
Led Zeppelin — Fool In The Rain
Led Zeppelin - When The Levee Breaks
Lou Christie — Lightning Strikes

And I snuck in Fleetwood Mac's "Dreams" before the mid-day guy got into the studio. 😎

@GaryPoole same here in the Carolinas. The heavy stuff is forecast to hit early afternoon. Schools closed in expectation of flooding and road damage.

@GaryPoole - probably not in your rotation, but this is one of my favorites

Arven - Rainsong g.co/kgs/DUjK6eH

@GaryPoole If you didn't yet, Clapton let it rain is a good jam even though he's a dick. GNR November rain also a good call, especially given the circumstances. I'm sure you can get some commentary or joke off of that.

@MidnightRider that's a good one. Added to the playlist.

It's really amazing how many rain songs there are.

@CanisPundit Already played the Neil Sedaka one, and the rest are a wee bit outside our format. 😎

@GaryPoole I kinda figured 🤣 let’s ease back into Here Comes that Rainy Day Feeling again by whoever did that one.

@CanisPundit That one's by The Fortunes, and I already played it. Great song, too. 😁

@GaryPoole REO Speedwagon riding the storm out

the doors
rider's on the storm

@GaryPoole Two days after Katrina, the MD put When the Levee Breaks on my playlist.

Yeah, I played Kashmir instead.

@Route10 I've been playing rain songs all morning...and still going.

@GaryPoole I’m not in your area to listen in. Is your station on the I Heart Radio app?

@GaryPoole

My favorite is The Rain is Falling - ELO, Time album.

@VictoriaLandis1 I started this whole thing off with ELO's "Showdown" ... "It feels like it's raining all over the world".

@GaryPoole @VictoriaLandis1 Discuss: Showdown is essentially Heard it Through the Grapevine.

@CanisPundit @GaryPoole

Haven't actually heard Showdown in many years. I'll have to go back & listen to it.

@VictoriaLandis1 @GaryPoole I was kinda’ joking, lots of songs use the same minor Blues chord changes . It’s the melody on top that makes them distinct.

@GaryPoole Fun but stupid fact I discovered when it came out. You can sing all of I Love A Rainy Night using just those five words.

@GaryPoole

A favorite of mine (Saw them perform this live):

The Rain, The Park, And Other Things - The Cowsills
