The spirit of the season whether or not one partakes of it. There is a joyfulness surrounding it and a willingness to help others (which should be all year btw), but it's a mindful effort of some to do so.
For me personally, remembering that of days past, when little ones were giddy and had only expectations of that one gift & the family time which ensued. And, sled riding, hot chocolate and...all that it used to be but is not now. Still it's one of my favorite times of the year.
On Christmas, watching the little kids see the lit tree with all the presents Santa left underneath it.
And we'd mix oatmeal & glitter, call it reindeer feed, and they'd scatter it out over the lawn before they went to bed Christmas Eve.
Magical.
